Hi.

IS there somewhere I can change what programs start up when logging into XP? I'm talking about the stuff that loads into the bottom right of the taskbar. I want to disable some stuff for msome users but not others.

control panel > user accounts is the only way I can think of :)

Only way I know is in the registry using regedit. Current user - software - microsoft - windows - run and run once lines. Edit carefully and make a copy first.

Also check what is in the Start\Programs\Startup directory of each profile.

MSCONFIG

As Figment said. Start|Run|Msconfig

Its the recommended way.

Thanks. Is the MSCONFIG for the whole PC or just the user currently logged in?

IIRC it's the whole machine (common startup, Local Machine registry keys, etc..)

You could try StartUp CPL. It is designed to show what is loading as the machine starts up (not just the stuff in the bottom right hand corner) - might be useful for checking the machines.
