I had a 323f 2 litre v6, and in the 18 months I had it it did 46k miles, engine very sweet and quite like to pull. It was quick not fast, get one with leather and ac those v6's get very warm in the summer, ride was quite good and room in the back was quite roomy compared with there look from outside.

The accord I have now is faster, handles better and goes quite well fro 212bhp. It however quite noisey on mway and cost 12k more!
But I would buy another, simply being able to pull away in fith doing 10mph was nice as opposed to the continual vtec gearchanges!!

In fact the more I go on about it the nearer I am to buying the Porsche!!!

Oh yea the only problem I had was with a caliper that got stuck on and the engine liking oil, the tappets started to go and in a 24v quad cam engine it could start to get expensive to fix!! So it got sold.

a friend of mine had a 1.5, they are nice to drive but very light on the road, once the frost and snow come you would be safer to leave it at home and take the bus.

It depends what model you are after really. The 1.5 is just a very average car in a nice body, the 1.8 performs reasonably well and the 2.0V6 is a smoothy with some nice standard equipment. As I used to own Mazdas I still have a soft spot for them ... and about 100 road tests.

Great! Insurance, sadly restricts me to the 1.5 or 1.8!

Nothing other than usual things to watch for on used cars. Parts are always more expensive than normal, so try and buy one with decent service history, evidence of cam belt change, and check the clutch.

Its worth scouting around and travelling a fair distance to find a well-looked after car. Don't buy just because its local.

i had the 1.5 for about a year before i swapped it for a new 323f 2.0.
50k miles the brackets holding the heatshields in place are a common one to go, i had these cut off by a garage after umpteen bracket replacments. not expensive £11 a clip, but annoying all the same.
very reliable car, however parts are expensive, £130 for a bog standard back box. thirsty for a 1.5, but engine responsive and bullet proof.
when looking for one of these, check the windows, prone to being loose because of the fact theres no surround to the glass.
and as mentioned above, very light, spun mine twice and i really wasnt pushing it at the time.
these are things to look out for, not criticisms really. fine car and i enjoyed mine and was a touch sad to see it go, still think they look much better than the equivalent

Agree sad to see mine go but that life, the 2.0 has the wider tyres ie much wider than the 1.5 or 1.8 standard can say mine did always behave apart from in the ice and snow, but then again only a 4*4 would do any better!

Great! I'm nearly convinced! Plus I read an article in the paper, (well, The Sun anyway) that puts mazda on top of the cheapest and most reliable list of used cars to run so it looks like I'm aiming in the right direction!
