Due to have a fair bit fo work done soon on the car..
FMIC, bigger Turbo, Uprated fuel pump and reg', Massive induction kit(LP)
The work is being done approx 100 miles from home (York area) via some extremely nice chaps to whom I will be very grateful and repay in beer and curry, I then have to drive back home, (notts) and then drive down southend area to get the mapping done.

Any thoughts on driving the car in that transit time? -York>home>southend .
Bearing in mind there will be a sh1tload more airflow etc without a remap until I get to southend..

I thought about blagging the AA to relay me down to the home/mapper so to avoid risking any problems with the car...

any thoughts?

drive off boost, light throttle and keep an eye on the knock link.

Also raise the fuel pressure perhaps??

Apparently you can effectively disable the turbo by disconnecting the actuator. Might be worth considering if you're going to drive the car. However if the cost isn't prohibitive, I'd rather have the car relayed, if I was in your situation.

chrome 22 September 2003 07:17 PM

thanks chaps.

fatman- might look into that.. depends on if I can blag the AA :D :D

Chrome,

Does it run coil packs..?

I am sure I have a spare one you could break for an AA trailer ride.. lol

simon/JGM- to be brutally honest mate, I *think* it might but cant be sure :D

(still learning about these car thingies; and with no sodding manual I'm learning as I go- thanks subaru/haynes)

I may well take you up on the loan ;)

Just mention the word "Brakes" and they won't even look at it just stick it straight on the back of a truck. ;)

Fatman 24 September 2003 06:57 AM

What would it cost to have them move the car, if not done under some 'relay' pretext? Is it actually too dear?

chrome 24 September 2003 12:22 PM

tbh fatman I darent ask..

might be a bit too convenient if I phone up a month before asking about it..

I know for a private recovery firm (when my cambelt jumped some teeth :( )it's somewhere around 150 and that was for only for 70 miles..

P20SPD 24 September 2003 12:28 PM

A friend of mine who has a greenflag recovery business charges £1 a mile.

chrome 24 September 2003 12:34 PM

maybe I should get in touch? ;)

Fatman 24 September 2003 12:48 PM

Might it be cheaper to pay the mapper to come to you?

frisby 24 September 2003 03:18 PM

I use beamish transport and they should move it for £120.00 inc VAT. As long as the delivery day is flexible as they will have to plan it onto a full load.

Fatman 24 September 2003 03:53 PM

Eh, Chiark? What's the connection?

chrome 24 September 2003 06:06 PM

I bought nick's (Chiark) previous car. :D

(and damn quick it will be!)
