G'day,

Wondering if its is possible (and how difficult) to replace a 2.0 litre NA with the 2.5 litre NA motor.

Is the motor of the same external design (dimensions etc, does it run using the same ancilleries.

Thanks for any help

Matt

As far as I know the engine's could be swapped over without major problems, as they are all based on the same engine family.

Not sure about the external dimensions, but they should be very similar, if not identical.

You would almost certainly need a different ECU, as the fueling requirements would be different.

Most of the other ancillaries should fit OK.

However, you might need an uprated clutch, brakes, suspension, transmission etc to cope with the extra power and torque of the 2.5 unit.

Unless your 2.0 is blown, it would probably be quicker, easier and more professional to sell the 2.0 car, and buy a 2.5.

The 2.5 litre Impreza is not available in Australia, the 2.5 litre motor only comes in the Liberty RS.

May be possible to just drop the motor, gearbox, ancilleries (including ECU)from a 2.5 Liberty (Legacy in the US)into the Impreza.

Any thoughts anyone ?

Matt
