Not in the Scoob thank god. I was in the Family transport, our Toyota Estima, I was driving along and stopped in some traffic behind a Zafira, then a Cav SRi stopped behind me. Suddenly BANG!!!, a Transit minibus full of kids slams into the back of the Cav, which then slams into me, which sends me into the Zafira. The SRi was totalled, being sandwiched between my People carrier and the Minibus. Someone who was travelling in the SRi was taken to hospital with bad whiplash, but no other injuries thank god. My Estima Isn't that badly damged considering the state the Cav was in. The rear bumper has been pushed up under the back, and the spare tyre cage is a bit mangled. The front grill has a crack, and the front bumper is pushed back slightly. But it's not too bad atall really. I'm just glad the (heavily pregnant) wife and kids wern't in the car at the time

Looks like the driver of the Minibus is going to get done for driving without due care. What a moron, especially as he had kids on board.

glad ur ok m8,

u got a bad neck also m8 ;) u might not yet but consult a accident specialist, ull find uve got one then after they tell ya the compensation u cud win lol. sorry. only joking

were the police there?

DreXeL 20 September 2003 05:50 PM

The neck pain has already started....;)

Yeah the police were there, about 15 of them

And they say police are over streched ;)

TBH If I was in the Scoob it probably would have been written off, looking at the state of the cav. The only reason my Estima got off quite lightly is because the cav went under the back. The impact probably would have killed the Scoob

The bad news though if I understand correctly is that the Zaffira which was damaged by your car will claim off your insurance. You will claim off the SRi and he will claim off the Minibus.

Pretty sure thats how it works in a pile up. Hopefully you come out OK with respect to no claims etc - might be a pain in the arse though :(

Also I heard that you can all be done for driving without due care and attention for other road users as yo were all too close to each other. Maybe if you are actually stationary this does not count but the record is about 56 people getting done this way in a pile up on one of the motorways.

DreXeL glad your all ok ;)

BIG is best sometimes :D

I have a question thats bugging me about this sort of accident

Who do YOU clame off:confused:

Do you all calm off the guy driving the mini bus or clam off each other

Brit_in_Japan 20 September 2003 06:21 PM

The usual rule of thumb is that the guy at the back get's the blame, his insurance has to cough for the lot !

DreXeL 20 September 2003 06:25 PM

The police at the scene said that by witness accounts, and from what the 3 of us who he hit have said, we are not at fault because we were sationary and he hit us at speed, possibly over the speed limit. I've spoken to my own insurance company who said the normal procedure is for us all to claim from the person who hit us directly. But I've also spoken to HelpHire and it looks like we can all claim from the Bus company's insurance, as it was clearly his fault. I'm going through HelpHire anyway so that should take a lot of the insurance hastle out.

That is indeed right

I was involved in this sort of incident and the insurance companies all talk agree its his fault then they claim from him

it takes a little while but its easier in the end

As for the coments about stiff necks etc:rolleyes:, seriousley I felt no ill effect on the day but the following day I did have a little stiffness so be careful.I had several visits to the Chiropractor who soon sorted that
