Hi all,
I'm after a scooby as soon as i sell my car, but i'm not sure what to go for.
I'm looking to spend anything upto £14k, but has to be a UK turbo or bugeye WRX car due to insurance, No RB5's for me :-(
BUT the thing is do i go for a fairly new Bugeye with little miles or save a few grand and go for a Classic ?!?
Any opinions welcome
Thanks

Get a classic and get the respect off other road users that u deserve!

pappasmurf 19 September 2003 04:46 PM

...Here we go again.........get a Classic.

STIwanabe 19 September 2003 04:54 PM

Take it your not fans of the Bugeye then??

16vmarc 19 September 2003 04:57 PM

Well u asked we answered!!!!

16vmarc 19 September 2003 04:59 PM

As Lloyd Grossman would say, "lets look at the evidence"

classic lighter
bugeye heavier
both 215bhp
ones ugly!!!

S.B. 19 September 2003 04:59 PM

Classic..:D

STIwanabe 19 September 2003 05:04 PM

Its not that ugly, with morretes fitted anyway

STIwanabe 19 September 2003 05:15 PM

Any bugeye owners care to give their opinions??

had a classic
got a bugeye(with light conversion)
bugeye has much more quality feel but maybe not such great dynamics
if you want the biggest buzz get a classic
if you want a great all rounder get a bugeye
if you want the best of both get a bugeye with PPP like mine!

03 model is £150 cheaper on insurance for me and another 10BHP and better wheels, brakes, interior, lights (3d), and if you but it at a car supermarket £16150 best price.

TonyBurns 19 September 2003 05:53 PM

A mere 16k for an impreza...... from a supermarket (not the likes of motorpoint then? ) who will give you an impreza at that price due to it being imported outside the eu (ie cyprus) so you get ZERO warranty, no alarm, no dealer network (as its been sourced outside the eu).
Myself, id buy either from a uk dealer for 18.5k who will give you a very good warranty, a dealer network and lots of attention from your bank manager ;) (these cars never stay standard too long ;))
Brakes and engines are exactly the same as those from MY99 onwards (the brakes suck btw) but some turbos are of different variants of the td04.

I have got a UK 03 - and have had all three models and the brakes are not the same - and how come the car weighs more yet drops nearly hald a second off the 0-60 of a UK99 and has EBD and higher top end - and you can buy them from Tesco's

lightning101 19 September 2003 06:01 PM

I'm just having a laugh - I know the Cyprus/Belgian/Dutch Imports are ****e and cost about £1500 to be of any use and only 1 years warranty (OUCH) - could use the £1500 to get a 5 year warranty LOL

lightning101 19 September 2003 06:03 PM

Cheapest model is a yellow sport - for sale on the edinburgh bypass - lots of interest though (NEDS) LOL

TonyBurns 19 September 2003 06:47 PM

The MY03 still has 294mm discs and subaru 4 pots am i not correct?
The EBD will help but the brakes are exactly the same as those from MY99 onwards ;):p
