I'd like A.P's but there a lot more money!

Do the wilwood kits come with grooved discs because im not touching x-drilled!

Its for a 3dr Cos by the way.

I personally would save and get ap's mate....

Why do the a.p's cost more are they actualy better then? or you paying for a name?

I dont know fcuk all about aftermarket brake kits,i just know standard 3dr stuff is frightening!!!

They don't run wilwoods on works teams or F1 cars......do you need any more proof ?

They run them on some Nascar teams IIRC.I had some though and after cracking a caliper(one of the cheaper ones-dynalite I think),wouldn't buy them again.
For the money they are ok though and you can always sell them on if you deicde to upgrade.

Just get yourself some Hi-Spec brakes.

Seen plenty of the blue oval boys (and girls;)) with them.

Cheaper than AP, equal to/better than the Wilwoods.

So anyone know whats the biggest combo i can fit under 7x17" oz superlegra's.I prefer some lovely 6 pots.

I went for a Godspeed 325mm x 32mm kit on mine using re-conditioned cossie calipers. They work an absolute treat on the road, MASSIVE difference to ordinary cossie stuff. Cost me £650 all in for discs/bells/reconning calipers & M1144 pads which I thought was pretty good :)

Have a look at www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk they have various options....Ian @ godspeed advised me to go for this kit based on what I use the car for (road use & maybe a trackday or two in the future but nothing serious).

I got/had HiSpecs on my 3door, were superb IMO.

U said std 3dr brakes are frightening? Eh? Think there might be summat up with yours then as as std they pretty bloody good IMO.

There not good at 140+ mph!!!

then save up and buy some AP's then. You'd be surprised just how good some calipers compare to even AP's. Trouble with the cheaper kits is they just don't last lap after lap.

If you're big on trackdays, I'd save for the AP's. If you're just worried about an emergency stop from 140+, then I can't see you noticing much difference from most replacement calipers.

Brembo's were good but felt heavy and un nerved the steering

AP Princess, better than 2wd cossie.

2wd cossie, not brilliant but not a bad 15 year old standard caliper.

AP's are by far the best caliper.

Used Hi-SPec disc's, ok but warp easily.

I wasn't aware you were going to be doing a few track days a year.......in that case save up & go for AP's as other's have said, for road use my set-up is brilliant. Ian @ Godspeed said that I wouldn't really notice a difference between AP's & my set-up (he also sells AP's aswell so he isn't biased) for my use (ie. fairly hard road use) but if I thought I was going to be doing fairly regular trackdays then to go for the AP's.

I nearly wrote "apart from dingy" as knew you wouldve, but most other people just "hear" that somthings the best and blindly reccomend or use it.

Theres sooo much stuff on the market which is wildly overrated cause one person wrongly tells 2 people its the bollocks, them 2 people tell 2 more each, all them lot big it up on a forum, etc etc, and next thing you know half of the UK are buying HKS sequential blowoff valves as they think thats what makes the chatter/flutter sound, pmsl.

The wonders of advertising eh...

I've personally only ever driven cars fitted with:-

1. Subaru 4-pots + OE discs/pads
2. Subaru 4-pots + Godspeed 335mm discs
3. Brembo 4-pots
4. AP Racing 4-pots

Unfortunately, I didn't spend the time doing lap after lap (in fact it wasn't even on track), so I can't comment on their full potential.

All I can go buy is speaking to people who've actually bought these upgrades and how they've found them on the road and on track.

Unless someone actually does a back-to-back comparision in a controlled environment, then yes it's all just talk.

Dingy has tried them all, but I may have a completely different opinion from him (or possibly not). Without trying them all first, then you'll never know unless you take advice from people who actually use them day-in, day-out.

AP have a well-established name, but just because they are fitted to an F1 car doesn't automatically make them the best or the best solution for someone. But, you can't argue with their track record ;)

I would, they maybe alot more expensive, but at the end of the day its worth the extra. I wish i had :(

I have wilwoods on my s2 300mm split bells and rotors on my s2, they are absolutely gorgeous pieces of kit and work very well.... barely have to touch the pedal(great for watching passengers eyes pop out their heads)

Off Topic i know, just an update about the Hi-Spec Discs..



Well i had the disc run out measured today on the new discs, on Hi-Spec's website they say maximum run out should be 0.05mm

One disc has 0.38mm runout and the other 0.17mm

Well thats awefully good isnt it :rolleyes:, tried phoning them today but he was buisy on another call, so will try again tomorrow. Whats the betting he still refuses to give me my money back! Its not asthough i'm asking for the £60 back i will have wasted in postage, the initial £385 i paid out in the first place would do!!! [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
