Would an ecu from a V4 sti type r be the same as from a V4 sti?
Thinking that type r has auto waterspray is this controlled by the ecu?

you could just fit a pressure switch (adjustable) and set it to come on when you want.
couldnt you?

Hi,

As far as I know a standard ecu from my97/98 will have three yellow connectors. This means ECU's from these cars be it MY97/98 UK, WRX, WRX RA, WRX type R, WRXsti, WRXsti type R and WRXsti type RA and probabbly 22B would phisically plug in. However they are all mapped for different spec engines and or fuel, be carefull when swapping ECU's around.
I dont think it's only the type R that has the auto water spray. What was wrong with your original ECU?

The ecu i have in the car has got a mines vx rom chip in it which alters the following:
-speed limiter
- rev limiter
- A/F map
- ignition map
i have been advised by various people that this is a bad thing.
But i have spoken to the main uk importer for mines and he said monitor for knock and i should be ok.

Correct.

Yes and no. They will physically connect, but STi ECU's will not run in "normal" WRX's and Turbos - or vice versa.

Hi,

The Mines ecu board is not going to cause you a problem, it's the map on it which may/may not.

As long as you can monitor what things are doing Knock/Det you should be ok. I would also expect it to run a raised boost pressure.

From what i've learnt from here it should be a similar upgrade to the ScoobyECU or PE Phase1 which I have in my UK98. 97/98 standard ECU's were the most difficult to remap. People on here have had some good results with this type of upgrade. It may be worth finding out if any of the ECU experts on here could read the map for you in some way to try and get an idea of what it's doing.
