Regal have brought out a an 18 foot power boat the lsr 18

its got an inboard mercruiser 130hp diesel engine and at a few pence for red diesel its so cheap to run, and has 8 seats i think its about 16k.

thinking of selling the car for one!

wakeboardar 05 September 2003 03:42 PM

thats the feller
ive seen one at conway they use fresh water as coolant
need servicing on average every 3 years
and dont need winterising just draining the coolant

i wonder if a boat share would work?
4 people paying 4k each

I want one real bad.

only thing is if we get too many of these small powerful diesel engines the bloody gov will start to tax marine diesel.

RichB 05 September 2003 04:02 PM

This link seems to suggest the boat has been out a while...

Looks good and have been thinking about a RIB for sometime...

wakeboardar 05 September 2003 04:16 PM

its not been out to long as there no used ones for sale anywere in europe the petrol one has been out for years
i think is the same technology thats making these new diesel cars so quick

this costs £2 per hour to run.
a rib with say a 80 hp out board about £15 to £20 per hour.

TopBanana 05 September 2003 04:28 PM

Looks decent enough, although with 130hp it's not going to set the world on fire. Nice and beamy so probably ideal for wakeboarding

I'm seriously intrested in one of these, does anyone know definite costs including trailers etc.

What is the top speed, any dealers have demo's of these?

As a thought, is there any other options for diesel sports boats, i'd heard Bayliner do one using the same engine.

Skip.

Nimbus 05 September 2003 05:06 PM

That is so cool  :D :D :D

wakeboardar 05 September 2003 05:09 PM

i seem to remember someone saying it does 35 mph

price is 17k with uk trailer and covers could be cheaper at southamton boat show in a few weeks

never heard of bayliner one yet but mercruiser do provide engines for bayliner so one is on the way im sure
most of these boats and engines come from the states were petrol is almost free so they dont see the point of a heavier, less powerful ,more expensive to make, engine

ive just sold a bayliner 2050 with a 215 hp mercruiser because it was to expensive to run

TopBanana 05 September 2003 07:11 PM

How much did the Bayliner cost to run? We're looking for a similar ski boat at the moment

wakeboardar 05 September 2003 07:32 PM

it was about 100 quid a day thats a 4.3 mecruiser thunderbolt

thats with powering around for a few hours then the rest of the time wakeboarding

we aslo bought fuel from a mariner which costs a bit more

ive now a 1850 with a omc 3.0 giving about 130 hp
this is enough for wakeboarding but a short on thrills when powering around
we get a day for about 60 quid

TopBanana 05 September 2003 08:03 PM

Cheers, the Regal does look good.

Some dude here is selling his
