Can't you do it through Locations, i.e. "Office" and "Mobile" ? I'm sure you used to be able to do that on Win98, haven't tried on XP though. The number stays the same, locked, but when you switch Locations / Dialling Rules, it adds the prefix etc.

Mind you, two dial-up numbers might be easier :D

Cheers

I've got the onerous task of doing a laptop build for 1,000 machines. All going well, but can't seem to get the dial-up settings how I want them.
Users need to be able to change the prefix to the phone number, as it might not always be 9-for-a-line. In NT it seperated the prefix from the phone number, so you could lock the phone number and leave the prefix open, but XP puts the whole thing on one line, so I can either lock the whole number, or if I leave it editable, they could type in their own ISP number for example.
I can either lock the whole number, or have multiple entries in the phone book, but that could get a bit messy.
Any thoughts? I've tried the MS connection manager admin kit, but that's no use. Are there any third-party utilities for this kind of thing?

Dialing rules?

'Fraid not - still puts it all on one line, so I can only fully lock or unlock it.

Create 2 dialup connections then ;)

Got 2 connections already, each using dialing rules for home and office. But the feckers want to edit the prefix, but lock the number as "it used to be like that on NT".
Looks like I'll just have to leave it locked.

Cheers
