Could be knackered clutch release bearing, or maybe 4th synchro on its way out. Do you feel anything odd through the gearstick or clutch pedal when it happens?

When driving hard and changing gears up to 4th gear & over 4000rpm
theres what I can only describe as a roaring noise when pressing down the clutch and depressing the clutch.Anyone have any idea what it could be.
Std MY2000.

No it feels fine and makes the noise in all gears over 4000rpm otherwise its fine at lower rpm.

Clutch release bearing would be likeliest suspect then.

Has it always done this can you remember?

I think it's a trait of the my00 to over-rev between changes, could be just that and not the clutch.
