Just to say hi to everyone in/around Bristol - got my MY00 couple of weeks ago - silver 4 door - its absolutely brill.

Anyhow, give us a wave - I've noticed that some do/some dont acknowledge . . .c'mon folks its the only civil thing to do!

How do people find Tileys? It took me hours to peel all their stickers off the scoob!

MartinM 09 May 2000 12:53 AM

Welcome. Will wave if I see you.

I have MY00 silver in/around Bristol from Tileys too. 4 mths/2800 miles. Getting better all the time.

Yes, my car is a rolling advert for Tileys too - how did you get the stickers off? Does it affect the warranty? ;-)

Hi APJ

Keep an eye on the events section in both this & the 22B BBS for the next area meet.

We'll look forward to meeting you there!

Use nail polish remover - works a treat.
Wife wasn't pleased though..... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Welcome to the ranks. I generally do wave, but many don't! Me: Red MY98.
I bought mine new from Tiley's, and asked them to not put the stickers on in the first place.
They're generally helpful, although they can be a little too 'matey' for my liking, and some odds'n'sods have been botched - poor touch-up to the bonnet will cost me a resprayed bonnet, and a simple vinyl repair was botched by a third party guy they use - should get that redone for no cost tho'. To their credit, they fitted a new clutch under warranty without my having to push, after I complained of judder when cold.

Cheers

Hi there,
Welcome to the club.
I also got my RB5 from Tiley of Bristol but I took delivery of it on a Friday late afternoon and they were expecting me on the Saturday morning. The consequence was that they had not had time to put any stickers on it (lucky me).
Message for Nick, Bridgewater.
I have received your e-mails but I have been on holidays and my wife has been in hospital for a week previously and is now recouperating and I have three young boys to look after. I am not being ignorant but have just had alot on. I am off on holiday for two weeks on the 20th but hope to catch up with you soon if possible.

chuckster 09 May 2000 02:59 PM

I've only been to Bristol once, to pick up my 22B. Now I too have the sticker problem, they should give a discount on servicing etc for all the advertising they get out of their buyers!
Still debating whether I'll take it back for servicing though, have had good service from Lancater Sevenoaks before and they are a few hundred miles (round trip) nearer!
Interested in hearing more about Tileys.
Charles

bob 09 May 2000 08:38 PM

Hi
Welcome to the list. I have a reddish/blue with gold wheels and Tiley’s said they only had there add in silver and it would just not look right. So they never put any on.
They fitted my Scoobysports backbox.
They fitted all my spoilers and had them sprayed.
They fitted my quad lights and had the surrounds sprayed.
They fitted my Group N disks and Goodridge hoses.
They have worked on my center pod and gauges.
When I complained about the prodrive conversion they refitted the STD ECU removed the Prodrive Exhaust and got me my £2000 back. Leaving the Ramair and mintex 1155’s on the car.
Tiley’s have been very good to me and I have no reason to complain about them. I always get a car when mine is in for servicing. Even if only for an hour. I would buy another car from them and have it serviced by them.
Anyway enough of my creeping (they will be reading this) How come we have so many saying hello from the Bristol Area and can only muster 3 for the Swindon meet.
Regards
Bob Iles

Well blimey - didnt know there were so many of us around in Bristol . . . although there's quite a few Scooby's in the car park at work near Parkway . . . anybodys?

Thanks for all the info on Tileys . . . so far they seem ok. They promised me delivery in around two weeks, and tru to their word it was just under 3 (I was gobsmacked). Its been in once and I got a loan car (rather tasty Legacy auto/leather) and its going in again in a couple of days for its 1k service, and I've got a loan car. So so far, so good.

A query though - when I first got the Scoob, as soon as you got above 3000 revs, its was g-force time. Now I've done 1000 miles, the grunt doesnt seem as good anymore - not pushed back into my seat anymore. Any ideas?

Iain/bob - Swindon meet . . . cant this Sun, but next one, maybe ;-)

Steve P - yeah, might have been one of the ones on the forecourt - picked it up day before Good Friday (had a great Easter this year!). When I ordered, Tileys had 3 Blue Mica saloons, Silver sunroof, and a silver 5 door. Was tempted to go for a blue and get immediate delivery!

Mark F - why the wait - importing?

Anyway, thanks for all the messaged folks - see you around!

Andrew

SimonH 09 May 2000 10:59 PM

Seeing as it's just down the road so therefore sort of the same topic has anyone had any dealings with Simpsons, just the other side of Swindon (seems to be my "localist" dealership)?

APJ 09 May 2000 11:08 PM

Simon . . Only contact is when I emailed them for a quote for a new Scooby - quick to reply but no discount ;-)

markford 09 May 2000 11:17 PM

Yeah - waiting for delivery from Holland.

Anyone in Bristol area had experience of Tileys and how they got on with servicing an import ?

Mark

Nick 10 May 2000 07:23 AM

Nick C

No probs Nick. I hope that your wifey is ok now.

Gethin 10 May 2000 09:37 AM

Mark,

They charged me £178 for an oil change. So I do it myseld now and take it to a specialist for the big services. They were very snotty in their attitude towards an import. But as I have said beofre they only have themselvs to blame as they treated me like shi* when I wanted to buy a UK car from them http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Gethin.

Gethin

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll be visiting Interpro or David Hendry if that's the service you get.

HAPPY 10 May 2000 07:53 PM

SimonH,
Simpsons are great.Service dept. especially.
you can have a hire car for £4.99 whilest your car is in,and they really do not rip you off.

pete

P.S. ALL, DON'T FORGET THE SWINDON MEET THIS SUNDAY.

silver 10 May 2000 09:28 PM

Regarding Simpsons
I bought my mica blue 4 door from them. They were like all the dealers I approached when first looking at buying a scoobie, offhand and curt. However when I ordered one they were very good and keen to help you, staff were very willing to help in any way you asked, re test drives etc.
I have had the car for 6 months and it continues to excite me every time I drive it.
I have had a SS back box fitted and Simpsons arranged for all the colour coding to be done on my 7500 mile service. (curtesty car loan was £10.00 a day, which they let me off for when I complained that the loan car was dirty inside!, which it was.)
I would reccomend Simpsons, they now have a huge brand new service centre and expanded sales area.

bob 10 May 2000 10:01 PM

Do you hear that Moray, Interpro. Do you want to or will I. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif
Bob Iles
They are looking after your car at Powerstation. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

IainT 10 May 2000 11:11 PM

Silver
you coming to the meet on Sunday then?
Cheers
Iain

markford 11 May 2000 08:09 AM

Bob,

OK get the drift.

Can you direct me to Powerstation, looks like thats where I'll be going reading between the lines

Mark

MorayMackenzie 11 May 2000 12:16 PM

Bob,

would you do the honours please, I'm all "Interpro are an unprofessional bunch of guys who do more harm than good"ed out at the moment. It's giving all the examples of their past bad-doings that wears me out... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Powerstation service my car. They are worth the trip from Bristol, in my opinion.

Moray

PS: Bob, See you Saturday!

Hi everyone. I'm from Bristol, living in the USA for a year. I sold my MY98 when I moved out here. I have a MY00 on order for Sept when I return though!
I have always used TH White in Cirencester, they have always given fabulous service at very reasonable prices. In addition the road from the M4 to Cirencester is awesome. I will be taking my new car there every time.
They are smaller than the main dealers and are a lot less "corporate" as a result. They are prepared to spend time with you, and you do not come away feeling like they are just after your money.

Nick 11 May 2000 04:28 PM

I suppose that I'm lucky that Atkins don't charge me for borrowing their grubby old Vivio when I'm having a service done! Quite possibly the worst car I've ever driven!

APJ 11 May 2000 10:00 PM

Well, just had my 1000 mile service by Tileys - and I must say they were great - willing to lend me a car for free, but I opted for the lift into work and later pickup. Chatting to the guy about imports . . . basically they dont like them cos Subaru uk get funny. However, what made it for me was the gorgeous girl on service reception (but dont tell the missus!).
