* Its made such a difference just to closing the doors - no more tinny sound, I get a "THUD!". Just have to decide on the what speakers to get.

**WHAT DO YOU THINK???**

What did you use to deaden sound? What is that black stuff??

MrDBM 29 August 2003 12:15 PM

is that dynamat or similar? what kind of difference does it make to road noise, motorway driving in particular?

darms 29 August 2003 12:18 PM

Its like Dynamat, but alot cheaper!

Each door took approx 2 1/2 sheets and at £12.50 per box of 4 sheets cant go wrong! It does the job wicked. Matted my last car too with great results.

The Matts are sold in a local car accessories place (they mainly sell car paint) to the trade only...I opted for the usual no vat = no receipt.

MrDBM

Will keep ya posted on how quite as soon as my speakers go in....driving without door panels at the moment. The doors shut soo solid. Thinking of getting another box and doing my rear doors soon.

Good stuff :D

Another excellent source is Steve the Sound Man, who sells "barrier mat" which I have used. It's almost as good as Dynamat extreme in my view, and it is a darn sight cheaper!

chiark - Got a dilema re the speakers...

Focal PolyGlass 165v2 fronts and Access 165ca rear
£310 Fronts and Rears

or

Boston Pro 6.5 - fronts
With a price tag (Discounted! from £450) of £300
If opt for these I'd have to leave the rears speakers (No more £)

What would you recommend I go for, don't really have rear passengers....just me and the wifie.

Ta Darms

goonasuk 29 August 2003 09:45 PM

Focal ;)

darms 30 August 2003 06:50 PM

Cheers goonasuk - called DND and should be driving up to them next week.

Nice install by the way mate

chiark 30 August 2003 07:27 PM

Listen to both. No-one else can help you decide on that one mate. I'd personally probably not go for focals as some see 'em as the defacto choice, but that is because they're good. They still edge on the bright side for me.

Don't spend that sort of money on the rears, that's silly :D

chiark

Me thinks your right...Bostons Pro sounded wicked, but quite a lot of cash (even with my discount). Suppose if i went for the Focals I would be paying "RETAIL" - something I've never done before as my local dealer doesn't stock them.

What do you think about JUST upgrading the fronts to Boston Pros and NOT having any rear speakers - would this affect the sound stage in the front that much?

chiark 31 August 2003 10:52 AM

that's what I'd go for. If u like the sound of the bostons, buy 'em. Simple as that.

Luke 31 August 2003 05:08 PM

wasnt there a pair of Boston pro's for sale here a few weeeks ago??

Very nice speakers.
