90K is the big one!

Brun 28 August 2003 04:09 PM

It's the big 30k service meeting up with the 45k cambelt service :)
Bout right :D

Abbylad 28 August 2003 04:10 PM

was told by my dealer it would be £550

Fizz 28 August 2003 05:14 PM

shop around I managed to get 110 of a 30k service once!!!

Mungo 28 August 2003 05:26 PM

Sounds about right. Find a dealer giving SIDC discount and you'll save a few quid.

Turboteeth 28 August 2003 05:35 PM

Probably about right for a dealer. Maybe go to a specialist like Subaru4you :)

DreXeL 28 August 2003 07:48 PM

When I had my 90k I was quoted £550 at a dealer, which was a good price, but I ended up paying £510 at a specialist.

EvilKyote 28 August 2003 08:25 PM

Ok, I've been going through my cars history and looking at what needs done! cars at 83K, but at 6 months since lasy service. firstly, people have been saying the 90K service is the big one and costs a small fortune, and say it's the 30k and the 60k together (aparently that justifies the cost) but acording to the manual, everything that is done in a 30k service is done in the 60k service anyway! so from what the manual says, the 30K, 60K and 90K services are essecially the same!

Why all the who har about the 90K being so big and so expensive!!!!

Anyway, since everything has been done on schedule, the only things that need doing are:

Cambelt, Transmission oil/diff oil, Engine oil and air filter!

What do you guys think is a fair price as far as an official subaru dealer doing the servicing is concerned?

I remember speaking to my local dealer a while ago and they said back then, the 90K is basically the 60K + Cambelt and quoted about £450,

Why are they now saying £650-700??????

Help please!

edited to say: As i am replacing the air filter, I was thinking of doing that myself and getting a ITG Performance Panel Filter as a replacement, what are people opinions on this filter?

DreXeL 28 August 2003 08:27 PM

The 90k also has a Cam-belt change, the 30k and the 60k dont. Cam-belt is every 45k

dhorwich 28 August 2003 10:08 PM

i no it wont be recorded but why not get someone to do the cam belt and do the rest yourself..

Cambelt = £70-100 fitting £80+..??

Oil = £40
filter = £10
Diff oil 1L = £10
Gearbox oil 4L = £40
Air filter = £20..?

= £300 max..?

Just keep all the recipts...!!:D

Find Triton motorsport in Bournemouth. They apparently have bought all Chappelgate Subaru's equipment and have been servicing scoobs for years now. I took my MY99 there and they were about half the dealer price and very good.

Not sure of the number...

check out the power engineering site. They list service rates. They aint cheap and I wouldn't use them again, none-the-less, they should give an idea of the top end of the scale. When I had the 'big' service, I walked away £1400 lighter, and with a tear in my eye!

scooby-si 29 August 2003 08:06 PM

no m8 got out bid as i was at work

mart360 29 August 2003 08:37 PM

hi evl,

guess youve just spotted how you get clobbered by the main dealers!!

i am doing the 90k myself, got an independant to change the belt

£170 all in... the oil was done by an independant £27.00

and the other fluids i will do myself over several months..

nowhere near as exspensive as the md!!!!

Get yourself an EVO and then you will really understand the meaning of expensive servicing
