Today i saw what looked like a bright yellow Beemer with a high rear spoiler, parked on the Police access road where the M40 turns into the M42 Northbound. I had what looked like a blue "motorway" sign in the side.
Several miles further North, just before the M6 junction was another(!) one, again, parked visibly on a Police viewing ramp. Anyone know what these are all about (and why they can park on the "Police only" sections? mb |
I joined the M42 North at the A45 Junction at about 18:00. The traffic was crawling and then saw the Yellow car on the Police ramp. It only had MG on the rear number plate, haven't a clue what the purpose was, only that it caused a huge tailback as after that the traffic was flowing freely.
Came off at Castle Brom and then followed a Silver 'K' reg WRX up the Chester Road. Any idea who it is? Neil. |
Rover MG publicity stunt? after the launch of the new performance models?
|
Thats what I thought. I thought they would come up with a better idea than that. All it did was cause tailbacks which at the end of the day the authorities are trying to reduce.
Give them credit I suppose, at least people noticed. Neil. |
Well both cars had a blue "motorway" style logo on the side, and (i assumed) the words underneath were "Highways Agency".
If it _is_ a publicity stunt, then they (MG)should get their balls kicked - both for causing congestion, and illegal parking!!!! mb |
It must have been. Just been looking at the MG website. The MG X10 is coming out in August.
How they got permission to park them up on the side of the Motorway is unbelievable. Only a few nights ago there was a program on TV about how 'rubbernecking' is the main cause of shunts on a motorway. This was having the same effect!! Neil. |
Anyone know the truth about this (alledged) flagrant disrespect for the law???
