My wife bought a car a few years back and it was quite bad in the fag smelling stakes. She asked a valeter to have a go and he got rid of it. He used Autoglym upholstery cleaner on the floors, roof and seats. he then gave her some cleaner and said when your car drys out do the whole thing again and dont be afraid of using lots of water. It took 3 days for the car to dry out and that was leaving the windows open slightly. We then went to work on it and used a full bucket of water whilst cleaning the interior again. That took a further 3 days to dry out but the car even smells great now (nearly 2 1/2 years later) Needless to say the cars interior was spotless. good luck (nothing worse than the smell of fags in the car) PS To our Colonial cousins, i am talking about cigarettes not the fags you talk about ;) Pete [Edited by Buzzer - 9/8/2003 2:58:31 PM] |

I found Cigarettes are the best thing for tobacco smell :)

I think cigars are a much more classy smooth aroma ;)

febreeze??

Febreeze works after a few applications, but if you continue to have smokers in your car you've no chance....

Ill have a look in my car tonight. My mate gave me some meguiar odour eater last nigh. Just sprayed it on all the fabric and cant smell any tobacco now!

the best way to get rid of tobacco smells - and any other smokable substance smells - is to clean all the fabric in the car. Halfords upholstry cleaner is tops.
Don't bother with fresheners and sprays because the smell always comes back once the perfume dies away! |
