Imagine I had some gear robbed out my car. House contents insurance may not cover it. Problem is, car door was unlocked. Worth trying to claim on my car insurance or would potential backlash on insurance be too much??

I work at royal&sunalliance household insurance, just a couple of tips make sure you have personal posessions on your household policy unless the car was on your drive and in that instance you will be covered under the contents as it is in the boundary of your home, also there will be a limit on the policy for theft from a vehicle, usually £1000 unless as above it was on the drive.
I shouldn't say this but i wouldn't mention the door being open cos it WILL be declined straight away the items also have to be in a locked glove box or boot unless the policy wording states otherwise. Hope that helps mate Darren [Edited by Mortywrx - 8/26/2003 9:15:50 PM] |

sorry - but I agree with Stu. Either claim honestly or accept you error.
I've had wallet nicked (which genuinely had winnings of election sweepstake £150 plus usual cash/cards) - window smashed whilst I was windsurfing (Camber Sands - dodgy as hell). Insurance wouldn't pay unless locked in glovebox. |
I will have this this comment changed ppl
Cannot do it now cos my pc at work doesn't recognise my password for changing the posts????? I can post but not amend replies Darren |
yes because everyone puts in valid claims don't they!!!
If you don't sombody else will! this does not make it right but look after number one m8 everyone else does.... in a land where you cannot protect yourself in your own home bending a claim in your favor is your parogative!!! can they prove other wise????? |
Theoretically this thread is potentially "Conspiracy To Defraud" which is a serious criminal offense...
