How long can a VGA lead or S-video lead be run before loss of signal and a amp is require
Does S-video have 75 ohm resistance just like co-axial cable and therefore be run 100 feet or so? I need to connect my projector to either my pc or my dvd player or ps2. Where I want the projector to sit will require cable to run atleast 15 feet or so. What are my options. |
I've got a 5 metre (16 foot) lead works fine and i have used a 10 metre one with no problems.

15 feet will be fine, just do it. All video signals are (as far as I know) 75 Ohm, although this has nothing to do with the maximum distance they can run - it just determines a required characteristic of the cable. Use a cable of high enough quality and longer runs shouldn't be a problem.

The shorter the cable the less loss the better the quality

I bought a 5m stereo phono lead, split it, joined one set of ends together with a male to male adapter and voila 10 m cable ;)
Works fine. DVD quality is good. What? Me! a skinflint. How dare you sir! I intend to buy a better quality cable but just not got round to it yet. |
