what does the nut do on the back of the unit?? valve was on car when i brought it so i have no instructions

im led to belive its to change the presure at which the air is released, or as my mate put it, to make the sound louder. ;)

Right..
The nut adjuster on the back basically adjusts how the air is vented to atmosphere. Have the nut on it's most open setting and the larger black valve opens faster loosing more compressed air at once. Have the nut tight and the air will come out of the small purple valve first, then the larger valve. This makes a high pitched noise for the small valve, and a deeper sound for the larger part of the valve. Basically the tighter you have it, the more of a shreek you'll get. The bottom line though is, you can play with the adjustment, it won't open the valve in any way, the HKS is allways closed on idle as it only opens when it detects a change in vacum, not a constant pull of vacum like regular dump valves. Crack the 10mm lock nut and adjust the other 10mm to extremes (being carefull not to force it too far undone as it can come apart inside the valve), take the car out with it adjusted differently, then decide how you like it. |
