Boys/Girls/Muppets...

This BB is starting to sound more like a kids playground http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Threads (hostile childish arguments) like the "Bridgestone Tyre Wear" and the "Evo RS Sprint Challenge" only undermine the credibility of the BB and everybody who contributes to it.

And I thought this BB was for performance car enthusiasts ...

Ian Sutton 10 May 2000 02:08 PM

I personally think you need a little of this light hearted banter along with the serious aspect of the BB to make it work propally.

Id say 80% of threads are technical inquires and are answered helpfully .I think the few threads that go off the rails and become so called "hostile childish arguements" are mearly done in jest and with no animosity at all.

If these said threads do get out of line surely they could be ended.

I think lots of people including myself post more threads now that the BB has much more of a friendly atmosphere.

(i'll probally have no friends now..DOH!) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

The General folder will always be the "playground", attracting the most banter & sillyness. As far as I can tell, the serious technical questions that get asked in the other folders always get an answer.

If a thread gets out of hand, I just stop reading it. I can't spend all day on here! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I never did like that Maverick series, I was always a bonanza fan http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

sickboy 10 May 2000 06:32 PM

Maverick was that **** of a cowboy played by James Garner (the Rockford files).

I think he was also a Top Gun character. Nice.

Mulder 10 May 2000 06:53 PM

Me thinks a sense of humor is lacking in that guy....................

JamesH 10 May 2000 10:28 PM

Notice that "Mav" is a newbie with 4 posts - knows all about this BBS then?? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Methinks a longer period of soaking up the scooby atmosphere is needed - chill http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif
Due to my hopeless knowledge of the English language and a feeble attempt to 'take the p$ss' I managed to offend a whole bunch of people on an earlier thread.

I AM SORRY! * times ten

And here are some excuses:
I am crap at being witty. My attempts at being sarcastic were too offensive.
I am not well read in English literature.
Any attempts I have at being witty seem - (as has been pointed out to me now) - to come accross as aggression. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif ..sorry again...

My 'performance' driving skills are probably EXTREMELY limited COMPARED to anyone that has owned a Scooby for some time. I was indeed planning to actually take a course (I think Moray mentioned some names that I'll check out) so I don't hopefully wrap myself round a tree or worse hurt someone. I can drive the car safely and at a good speed and with respect for any other road user including lorries (respect) and bikers (big respect - they always wave when I move 2 or 3 feet left for them as I have seen them coming). I can also manage a basic sideways bit on a wet empty roundabout - so far with only a grin as a consequence. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif - there, I managed a smile http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I don't think anybody should sell their car and cancel a P1 (are you serious) just based on some some eegits' (me) obnoxious ravings. Having only done 2500miles in a Scoob I cannot now understand how I ever, ever could live without one.

I've ordered that book by I.M. Wittie titled,
"how to be witty and funny at the same time as extracting the michael on a BBS and without making a 'Sea You NNN Tea' of yourself" price £9.95 at all bookstores...

I won't stop posting on this BBS as I find it very informative and often quite funny. Most people are very helpful and knowledgeable about the technical side of the Scoob and how to drive it.

Bruised (own fault I know), and eating a very large piece of humble pie. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif

IanS Ok I can go along with that.
Shaun You smell of wee & poo mixed up in a bowl http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif and I'm gonna tell my dad and he's bigger than your dad http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Moray Thanx for submitting the photo. Nice PJ's, where did you get them BHS ?
Ipro, sickboy, Mulder ... Very apt names !
James et al Really appreciate the newbie welcoming, really you shouldn't have !
swa Redeemed ! I doubt anyone would cancel their P1 over a bit of "lighthearted" abuse on the BB! Sounds like BS to me.

Mav.
Chillin.

Lighthearted banter and a bit of sillyness is a good thing. I'm an admin for a technical forum for one of our products and as one can imagine humor is not high on the agenda but there is occasionally a bit of sillyness and humor and it does not harm. If it get's out of hand then I will come down very hard on those responsible, but to date this has not happened.

If we try to ban all 'playground' like threads then this BBS would not be half as much fun as it is. Take my thread on jacking up the car to fit locking wheelnuts, more than a bit of humour there, and also some serious answers to the question.

BTW - Welcome to scoobydom Maverick! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

harj 11 May 2000 10:33 AM

Don't even get me started Maverick, everyone loves a bit of humour and banter. If you don't, come and see us at Powerstation this Saturday in person and express your thoughts http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
