as title, does the legacy turbo use the same ecu as the early impreza model?

There may be programming differences, but I have tried a couple of early wrx ecu's on my car. there was no improvement, and i gained a 110pmh speed cut...
I did try a early ra ecu, and this was much better than my legacy ecu ( altho still with speed cut ), but as I had only got my car a couple of weeks, I was not sure of what long term side effects it may have had ( this was 5 years ago when I knew little of subarus ) so I kept my original ecu.

When the legacy ecu was installed in the wrx, the cat warning light came on.

I would say that an early UK Impreza ecu would work fine on a legacy with no side effects.

thanks steve ;)

Pre-92 Legacy's had different ecu's from post 92, and post 92 are very similar to early WRX (different injector size though).

post 92 legacy has same injectors as impreza

ECU is essentially the same, I have put an impreza one in my legacy for testing, and I currently run ECU code in my Legacy derived from an Impreza.

as said... they work, but remember td05 / td04 / vf12

thanks.

ive got the vf12 standard snail on at the moment, and i have to say, i prefer it to the TD05 (90 degree entry).

ive got the car for sale, but no interest, so may end up doing something with it.

is there any benefit from remapping the legacy ecu? running about 1bar now on a bleed valve.

Have also tried swapping 90 jap legacy RS ecu, with 93 UK....works the same, but with cautions as to fuel grade for jap cars, and speed cut etc.
Legacy RS ecu was more powerful, but had a habit of eating pistons using only 1 bar.

Thanks for the correction Paul.

I have not tried interchanging the pre and post 92 ecu's before, but had assumed they would not work as there are subtle differences with the maps (in particular the scaling of the boost).

The standard pre 92 Jap spec RS ecu should only boost to 8.89 psi?

Don't suppose you know the code of the early Jap ecu you were playing with? I have only come across B3's and J1's.
