Sorry if i am years behind everyone elses experience of this particularly joyous experience,.. but what a nightmare, eh?

Still only tackled the right hand two (looking from the bonnet area) and it looks like the left hand bank are even worse! :eek:

No wonder the garage that did my last service "encouraged" me to leave the plug change for a while. Fcuk 'em, i am nothing if not determined and stupid.

Any tips for the left hand bank?

Is it a 0.7 mm gap for the plugs? and how come you can fiddle with those coil packs for ages then they just seem to fall in to place exactly where you have been trying them for the last half hour? :)

Left side remove air box fairly easy......right side remove water place almost on top of suspension strut & if you have smaller hands; not a problem.....

Had one customer quoted 8 hours for this; he came to us it takes about an hour; depending on temp of engine!!!

And smear a small bit of grease on the rubber boot so it slips in easier....and it makes changing the plugs next time a bit quicker.
Just don,t damage the coil packs when you bolt them down!!

Thanks for that i feel a bit better knowing that i have done the trickier side already.

Took me about an hour to do that side, but it was my first time and i seemed to spend half of it working out which combination of socket/extension/knuckle to use.

Better get on with the other side now, well, after the qualifying is over! :)

Top tip about lubricating the boots, they fell on! :)

As long as they don't fall off again due to over-lubrication, everything's peachy then. ;)

0.7 is the right gap too. Worth checking the plugs as sometimes the new ones are not gapped correctly. Easiest way to get the airbox out of the way is to undo the two bolts that hold it to the chassis. You dont need to take the airbox apart then. Whole thing comes out to give more room.
