Finally got my 3rd replacement board (changed to the ASUS from 2 asrock mobos) :rolleyes:
My current CPU (Athlon XP 2400+) has been fried by the faulty Asrock mobo [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img] It was less than a month old :(

So, what to put in my shiney new ASUS? Will the 2400+ (mobo manual states XP3000 or above.....)

What are you guys running, and where did you get it from?

What's the deal with the Barton cpus?

Kinda stuffed regards getting it sorted this weekend, what with it being Bank Holiday :(, but any recommendations would be brill :)

ive just got the deluxe version of that board with a 2600xp
use twinmos memory works very well!

got my stuff from gladiator computers in Derby

I am running the deluxe board with a 2500 barton overclocked to 3200+. running with corsair pc3700 and raddy 9800 pro. the sata drives on this board i have to say are quick, just a pity you have to have dual boot to get them to work.

By dual boot do you mean it has to enter the raid controller then (I thought) "continue" booting into O/s.
If not please explain,
Although I had a few hickups installing different thinks, I hadn't noticed it boot twice ??

i wanted to use my 160GB SATA drive as my primary drive. i also have 2 x 80 Gig IDE drives. the primary drive is the 80gig the secodary drive is the other 80 gig. the SATA drive doesnt appear at all until the Raid driver is loaded. i had to install a copy of xp on the first 80 gig and then install xp on the SATA drive.

now when my machine boots i get a choice of 2 copies of xp to choose from. the first choice is the SATA install while the second is the IDE install.

Hope that is clear enuf for ya. Any remedies gladly appreciated.

copy the raid controllers from the disk that came with the motherboard (it did with my A7N8X Del) to a floppy disk.

plug in all drives, set BIOS to boot from SCSI device then CD-rom then floppy.
Clean install of XP and on "first boot up" (bit of text at bottom of screen almost as soon as you've finished the BIOS boot / test sequence), press F6 to install "third party raid controllers"
XP will then ask (shortly) to "INSERT CONTROLLER DISK IN A:" no choice but A: so make sure you have copied them to a floppy first ;) it'll load the drivers and then re-satart the boot sequence and continue to install XP on your chosen drive after formatting / partitioning etc...
