About once every two days I lose access to ScoobyNet and have to reboot my router to regain access
If I run a tracert I get the following results . . . Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. I'm using a D-Link DSL-504 router (latest firmware) - directly connected & running XP Pro. I have ADSL with a dynamic IP address. Any help appreciated :) |
Its because youve got a ctr..;)
|
I've heard a few reports of ADSL enabled peeps having problems maintaining connections for periods of greater than 48 hours, and routers locking up. Perhaps this is down to the specific hardware at the exchange, Fujitsu based exchanges etc.
Soz I cant be more helpful. |
I believe with that router you can disconnect the adsl connection from the web management and reconnect it. If that solves your problem them it may point to the exchange side of things.
That maybe be useless info as I'm on cable. H |
Thanks lads (and SB :p)
A bit of an odd one. Only lasted a couple of hours after posting before I couldn't connect again. Its a pain, because when I reset it gives me a new external IP and I have to update my dyndns.org information. Anyone know of a proggie that'll do it automatically for me ? Anyone know what the last port of call is on my trace ? Will just have to keep on resettin' for the meantime :) |
Dunk,
I use this http://www.directupdate.net/ I run it on my server, and it updates automatically if my external IP changes. Ian |
Cheers Ian, I'll give it a whirl. Looks just the ticket :)
Anyone any ideas on the original problem ? |
Hop 8 should be the Scoobynet server...
|
Odd. So how come I'm getting stopped at 217.79.96.130
Its a real PITA having to reboot the router all of the time, and strange how other sites work fine. Although, this doesn't just happen with ScoobyNet, I have the same problem with some other forums I frequent. |
My DSL-504 is doing this at the moment too. Hmmmm
|
jlanng - Really. Hmmmm, maybe worth me mentioning it to D-Link Tech Support . . . nah, silly idea, forget I mentioned it :D
Think I'll drop them a mail or see if they have a support forum :) |
all these viruses aren't helping connectivity at the moment also :(
