My (jealous) mate has advised against me de-cat-ing my exhaust, suggesting that the po-lice could pull me over, and submit me to an on-the-spot exhaust emissions test. Has anyone had this happen to them, is it a possibility, or is he talking out of his arsenal...?

It could happen, chances are it wont.. just do it before you die.. :D:D

I believe that they can indeed pull you for an emissions test. The subject was covered quite recently in this thread.

Cheers boys. I must stop this dinner time drinking. It turns me into a blind tw@t... I never spotted any of those posts over the last couple of days!!!
"I must remember to use the search, I must remember to use the search..." lol |
Try the following line while waving your right hand gently from left to right:
"You don't need to do an emissions test". If it works, the copper will reply "We don't need to do an emissions test", and tell you to move on... |
just do a centre decat and you will pass emmisions anyway???
think even if you get "dun" you will have 14 days to have the car re tested ?? then have take prove any failure points have been dealt with before you use the car on a public road?? |
|
I don't think I've EVER seen any roadside tests in the West Midlands, in the 11 years I've been driving... That's probably tempting fate!!!
|
There were Roadside checks in Reading just off M4 / J11 Monday Morning. They had a Scooby and a 911 when I went past at 8:45.
Nice start to the week!!! |
Interesting you should see that sort of car there.
You'd think, in some ways, that they'd do more good going for knackered old nails and smoky diesel trucks. I bet one soot-spewing sh*theap does far more damage to the atmosphere than 10 decatted Imprezas or Porsches. If they're targetting high performance cars in good nick, sounds like they're deliberately going for the sort of vehicle that's been deliberately decatted, and also one that's going to be owned by someone who'll just pay the fine and have done with it ...Or am I being cynical? |
We have just had a letter at work telling us that certain london boroughs can now stop you and test for MOT failure on air quality and issue a £60 fine with a 14 dya notice for compliance.
