Hi

My '02 WRX now needs new tyres after 13000 miles. It has the standard Bridgestone Potenzas on at present. The rears have loads left but the fronts are looking rather sorry for themselves. The nearside is worse that the offside but after reading a few posts this seems to be the norm.

What tyres next?

Toyos?
Goodyears?
Japditchfinders?

Who knows?

I am not bothered if I have to buy four to keep them all the same. I just want the same level of grip, if not more, without any extra road noise. Is it best to keep the same sizes or is it worth changing them to a wider fitment?

Many thanks in advance

Matt

Toyo Proxies or Goodyear F1's are the tyres of choice. Fairly even in terms of price and performance, and a fairly even split which ones are recommended on here,

FYI I had the F1's on my old WRX My01 wagon and they were excellent.

F1 GSD3's if you don't mind spending a bit more, Toyos if you want to watch the pennies.

For future reference it's well worth swapping the wheels over from front to back every couple of thousand miles. Keeps the tyre diameters as close to equal as possible, which saves you from a whole raft of handling oddities, as well as wasted tyres :)

Matt, 2 months back I was debating the same choice, in the end went for the Goodyear F1-GSD3. These replaced my o.e PZeros, all I can say is what a difference. :)

No doubt about it :)

Cheers Guys!

I've ordered four Goodyear F1 GSD03's and getting them fitted next Friday. That means I've got all week to trash the Bridgestones!!

Thanks

I recently replaced Potenzas with F1s, two things were imediately apparent.

Road noise is less.

The side walls are softer.

I can feel more roll ! Next KH track day will tell on performance, on the road apart from the roll I haven't felt any performance difference, though I am told they are better in the wet, I will have to wait for some rain to check that out. :D
