Hi all.

Just purchased a full HKS system inc downpipe and was wondering how hard it would be to fit, i have been told by a few people that turbo studs shearing off can be a problem so i was wondering if anyone has fitted one themselves.

I may have to take it to barretts in canterbury as advised by a reliable source as they can replace snapped studs (if they fit it) but i live in woking surrey and have use of a ramp and thinking of having a go myself

Advice please or does anone know of anywhere more local??

Cheers!! :D

what MY do you have

I have an MY98, fist time i did the downpipe i planned on stripping the IC and heat shield one night, coating the turbo nuts/bolts with WD40 and leaving it until the morning.

As it happened, out of curiosity, i tried the nuts/bolts without WD40 and they came undone with ease. It took me 3 hrs start to finish (inc cutting the heat shield to fit).

the backbox & centre takes 30 mins.

Last (& 2nd) time i did it, it took 3 hours to change the complete system (DP, CS & BB), 4 wheels and give the car a wash :D;).

any more advice, feel free to e-mail

Its also an MY98, I will not have to cut the heat sheild with the HKS as it is supposed to fit ok, thanks for the info, maybe i should give it a whirl and find out :D

good point about the heatshield, I forgot, mine was a magnex twin dump.

Also, i did mine on stands in my garage on my own. So having use of a ramp should make it easier.

BTW the heatshield was a b1tch to get off. loads of fidly bolts.

Also, I have a HKS Hyper muffler BB & CS - enjoy the sound and let me know how you get on
