ive just fitted a new set of wheels on my rb5, they fit ok but there is hardly any clearance on the 4 pot brake caliper on the front. took it to a local garage where they said it was safe enough but i should think about fitting spacers.
if i do, is it going to bugger up the cars handling or anything?

what wheels did you fit? are they correct fitment/size for your car? did you drive to the garage?
if you have then it would suggest that there is no problem.........

the car is fine to drive, the only thing im worried about is that there is such little clearance, no more than 2mm if even that.
under heavy braking there is a noise but no contact.

fitted some buddy club wheels to a customers car 2 wks ago paper thin clearence,the wheel cannot move once its bolted on so i would not worry.

3mm is enough clearance, and spacers (despite what lots of people say) are ok. I prepare a Nissan Primera for the TOCA touring car championship we run 15mm spacers on that and they are fine. I also have fitted 25mm spacers on a customers 550bhp skyline and that is running fine.

i got my cheque book and managed to fit 2 cheques between the wheel and the caliper thats how close it is. i think id feel safer with 2 or 3mm spacers, i know there is no movement but there is a noise coming from them under heavy braking, i think it probably hot air from the caliper
