as title, was thinking of ways of improving mpg on the scooby.... can mpg improvements be had under normal/steady driving ie 75mph ish, with a remap of the standard ecu?

also, can the old four plug legacy ecu be remapped?

(only mods currently are full 3" decat, induction kit and lightened bottom end cossie pistons/flywheel etc, and ported heads).

legacy fuel economy seems pretty good on standard ECU, I think my lambda is going, and fuel pressure screwed from uprated pump and standard regulator. My ecomony is quite bad, but no better with standard ecu put back.

I have intended to get round to mapping the cruise and so on to improve fuel economy, but need to sort lamda and reg first.

The main benefit would be from the lack of a cat - you have no need to run the car at 14.7:1 at a cruise & could go up to 15.4:1 or so (mine appears 'happy' up to 16:1 but it's pushing things a bit!). This gives obvious benefit. You can do this without a remap, though - just diddle the lambda sensor output to read stoich at 15.4 instead of 14.7 - although the only way I know of doing this is with a wideband lambda with simulated adjustable narrowband output. Quite a useful gadget anyway :)

bugger, stuck with it then....

let me know how you get on paul if you alter your cruise fuelling. i found the same as you mention, had a walbro 255ltr/hr pump, and was getting 200miles to a tank driving easy, took it off and got 240 miles with same driving, was shocked!!

standard exhaust kills it too, even with the cats knocked out.

nom, agree, best to try that with a wideband and display, wouldnt like to try it without, dont want toasted pistons :D

was in process of putting car back to standard, but other car is buggered, so gotta use the fuel muncher for a bit :D
