Been thinking for a while that i should try to get a set of these as my knocklink isn't to be relied on 100%, espcially when you have noisy pistons. Been doing a bit of digging and found this on Autospeed:

But not being the best at DIY stuff can these things be bought off the shelf.... if so where from and how much?

They don't need to be as complicated as that - get a copper tube (central heating type), flatten a bit at the end & drill a hole in it so it can be bolted to the engine. Get some fuel hose of the size that fits the pipe & stick it on the end. Feed that into a 'y' thingy that splits the hose in two, then get some of those headphones designed to reduce noise (the sort pneumatic drillers use - B&Q & whatnot), drill holes to put the fuel line into & seal them in.
It's not very clever, but it works. No electronics to go wrong, either.
It would be more likley to work, though, if someone who knew what they were talking about would explain it a bit better :D

Get a CyberSpy pro from the gadget shop remove the mike and fit into copper tube that has been flatened as described above.

I've built one of these, and took about 10mins. Although not got round to fitting it yet, as am waiting for a Knocklink to arrive.

Nope still not fitted as am still running standard boost.
FCD is disconnected at the mo' until I get my Knocklink from Jap Innovations.

Plug a Bosch knock sensor into the Mic in on your laptop, and then plug in headphones, or play through speakers, or record it as a .wav file.

I need to try the copper tube and hose method again, as I could not get the sound to conduct to my stethoscope when I tried it before (maybe need to try ear defenders instead). I want to see if this method is better than the knock sensor/headphones method especially with a forged piston engine coming up http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=402721
