24 yrs old, live in Oldham, car is garaged,i have no claim bonus,
3 points.

What do you reckon i should pay?
Subaru Uk300 51.

TonyBurns 02 August 2003 04:44 PM

Through the roof i think
Honestly, after those little riots they had there not long back, your insurance will reflect that, and im not that far away and pay just over 900 quid fully comp, protected, 9yrs ncb on a uk turbo (my00) with PPP, alloys etc.
Ive a feeling your going to get stung big style :(

Tony:D

TonyBurns 02 August 2003 04:44 PM

Should state that im also 10 yrs older than you ;)

Eagle7 03 August 2003 07:25 PM

ouch!

its going to hurt mate. when i was 24 my insurance was 1450 and thats for a UK turbo with 2 years NCB and no points.

i reckon you'll be lucky if its under 2k!

:O

triple6 03 August 2003 08:07 PM

Im 24 and paying £1100 with tesco, need a tracker though

UK300-199 04 August 2003 02:56 PM

Thanks for the reply's,

Made my day!

I was thinking bout 3/4 k

2k isnt bad i suppose!

dnb 04 August 2003 03:44 PM

24 years old, 4yrs NCB, very good postcode :), no tracker, £100 XS, all for £850 this year.

Car's a standard UK MY96 turbo saloon. Engine mods would wind the price up considerably - £200 for a back box and centre section last year

UK300-199 04 August 2003 03:58 PM

That is a very good quote.

Which company is that from?

dnb 05 August 2003 12:08 AM

That was my renewal from Barclaycard. Best quote for this year by quite a bit. :D

Eagle7 05 August 2003 01:24 AM

dnb

what postcode is that? From the looks of that quote i'd say antarctica where you cant hit another car!

dnb 05 August 2003 09:37 AM

Close ;) - it's the Isle of Wight. I'm not getting more specific than that!

I know it's one of the lowest rated postcodes in the country.

UK300-199 05 August 2003 02:54 PM

It's ok paying someone £850,
How good are they in sorting out your claim if you have a bump?

dnb 05 August 2003 03:16 PM

I don't plan to find out!

Seriously now...

They offer the usual courtesy car, all round glass cover etc..
(I'll dig out the policy docs if you want a complete list)
Some things cost extra, like AA type recovery and continental cover - I'm not bothered about that really.

I did have a chip in the windscreen repaired not long before I renewed. It was dealt with very quickly - the windscreen man came round the next day :)

I've not heard anything really bad about their claims procedure.

My only gripe is that they wouldn't let me have 3rd party cover on non-owned vehicles. (because I'm under 25.)

UK300-199 05 August 2003 05:25 PM

Aaaaaah,

HAve you got a contact number for them?

i'll give them a call and find out what they quote me.

SteveV-WRX 07 August 2003 10:57 AM

i'm 23 y/o 94 uk turbo, with a couple of preformance mods, on a driveway, and 2 years NCD = £1240 with tesco's but a tracker is needed.

HTH

Steve

Sorry it took so long.

Here's the renewals number - I can't find the quotes number, but I expect they'll help you.

Scooby-saint 11 August 2003 09:36 AM

You did well there! I'm 39 today & drive 99MY DBM saloon. I renewed last week @ around the £540.00 mark, with Tesco. That's with full NCB and legal protection, but £400.00 excess. Can drive anything on 3rd party though. Tesco is really straight forward and easy compared with others.

Cheers SS

achad 11 August 2003 02:56 PM

Yeah until you meed to quote! In my experience, my bro's and a m8's, Tesco are *&%@!? when it comes to claiming (wether its your fault or not!) and customer service.

RyanB 12 August 2003 12:03 PM

I'm 22 and have MY99 uk turbo, £1200 ( but need to have a tracker)

Whats the cheapest tracker that I can have?:D:D:D:D

You need a Tracker Monitor for Tesco. Cost me 4oo quid fitted and 100 quid a year subscription

M14YEN 18 August 2003 10:47 PM

I paid £2200 last year
23yrs old, 2 accidents, 2yrs noclaims. tracker monitor + clifford600. in Reading

that was with directline and they were the cheapest
hoping it should come down loads as the 2 accidents are over 3 years ago. but im still just short of being 25 :(

think i'll start the ball rolling tomorro as renewal is in a few weeks

Andrewza 19 August 2003 12:27 PM

24, MY03 STi, driveway, 'nice' postcode I'd guess, obviously trackered, 2years NCB, no accidents, Tesco about £1700.

Blue_Boy 19 August 2003 12:42 PM

I'm acutally looking around instead of Tesco's this year - haven't started yet as I'm being lazy with the car not here will Sept.

However, Tesco's quote for me - 27yo (£1300) - Spec C Ltd

Fully Comp / portected no claims / 9 years now / no points

M14YEN 19 August 2003 04:01 PM

so far Directline £1435
24yrs old, 3 yrs no claims on a 1995 WRX (with tracker monitor)
