Was looking through a subaru sport leaflet the other day and noticed that it quoted sport's top speed as 116mph when I know they can push to about 130mph?

Is this same with WRX an STi?

116mph is about usual for a speed limiter...

They can be easily taken off thou... not sure how to myself, but someone will know...

And mine goes faster than 130mph :)

Since when did the sport have a speed limiter?

sorry - I didn't realise it said Sport... I just guessed it was limited.

Don't know then... cos my old sport used to do 130 rather nicely and was totally standard :)

Probably some trick to try and get it into a lower insurance group, or something.

130 - 10% inaccurate speed0 = 117mph ;)

Hi Ian, i presume i am just being dumb as i dont know a lot of people on here yet and so dont know peoples `jokes` etc however, if you were serious about fines then the answer would be no. As the speedo`s are callibrated to be accurate ish up to 70, its after that ,they go crazy! Plus, whatever the reading on a camera, gatso ,speedgun is going to be almost spot on. Also, the speedos are calibrated in your favour, as in if you were doing say 80mph on the clocks you may only be doing 73mph and not the other way round so you couldn`t use that as an excuse unless you could prove the speedo was reading a lot lower than actual speed, even then, very slim chance. The reason i know is that a buddy who is a salesman for Porsche was caught speeding on a local camera and the car he was driving actually did have a dodgy speedo, even though he had numerous letters from his top techs, mechanics etc the plod weren`t interested!!

surely if his speedo was that dodgy and it was reading 30 when he was doing 40, for example, then couldn't he get done for an MOT failure....?

I don't have any speeding fines (not old enough to drive) i was just wondering if you could use that excuse.

IIRC, it's also an offence to have an under-reading speedo.

i think sport owners should have a sub site so us turbo owners don't bore them with talk of speed, boost ,intercoolers and dump valves.

Hi. I work in the motor jargen world. The figures that are quoted are the maximum speed that vehicle was designed to do safely. This is not the maximum speed it may do. ie: cold day, down hill, tail wind etc. This is a legal requirment the motor manufactures have to follow. hope this helps.
