Cheers Harj,
I've rang Threeways and they will put that one on the checklist http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif |
Hi All,
Further to my posted thread, 'Misfire-Petrol Related?', the Scoob actually broke down on the way to work last Thursday (20th) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Phoned Subaru assistance who were very efficient and picked up the car within 40minutes on a transporter. They wouldn't take it to my trusted dealer as it was not the closest dealer to my home postcode (as per the contract), so it went to the close dealer who I have little faith in!!! (Stands to reason, or I would have bought the car there in the first place). Anyway, they had it all day and I picked it up at 6pm that night. They stated they had "downloaded the ECU" which had reported no obvious faults. So they had extensively road tested it and found absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever. Fair enough, thinks me, and I drove away. Car fine until Sunday when it started again. Symptons the same, jerking under light throttle, engine trying to die when you pull away and then sometimes lapsing onto three cylinders. Problem is, it's very intermittent so it seems it will be difficult to find. It's now booked in to my trusted dealer, (Threeways in Abergele), on Tuesday. Problem is, here I am selling the virtues of the Subaru to my good lady, (JD Power results etc), as I'm in the market for a new one, (and she wants a 200SX Nissan). Just thought I would pray again on knowledge/experience of you lot. I know its a repeat but I'm getting a bit desperate. We even used her Ka to go out on Sunday, "In case the Subaru breaks down" Cheers http://geocities.com/r337m0nk3y/poke3/pikab.gif |
blubs,
A most unfortunate situation for you. Why don't you drive it to the dealers next time it happens so they can see for themselves. It sounds like a fuel evaporation problem I had on one of my previous cars, and never happend when the engine was cold. Also, I bet it only happens giong uphill too. I mean, you'd need a 7 litre diesel to pull your body up even the slightest incline. P.S. Why have you got a picture of a Pokemon? Is it to get people to sympathise with you as you are protayed as a small fluffy animal? Or is it the new one, Eatalotanchew? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif Geezer {:-) [This message has been edited by Geezer (edited 28-04-2000).] |
Oh..Oh....Oh...pass the needle and cotton, my sides are splitting!!!!!
As I've told you before, I AM cute. Anyway, I've found my Pokemon http://geocities.com/r337m0nk3y/poke9/132a.gif This is somehow applicable to you http://geocities.com/r337m0nk3y/poke5/138p.gif I couldn't find a small, bald, unfunny irritating one http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif blubs ps my courtesy car will be a Hyundai Pony, despite my cries of anguish. Even the guys in the garage call them the 'white peril'!! If you laugh you're dead http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/redface.gif |
Blubs,
I have had the same problem recently, but is was on the rolling road. We found that is was the hose beneath the Intercooler that split, the way you have described it, looks like a tiny tear or crease in a hose! Hope this helps. Harj... |
Blubs where did you get those cute little pictures.... I want one...please

Hate to drag this back on topic, as I'm having so much fun, but you might try unbolting the ECU from its retaining straps and jiggling it about, this could show up any problems with cracked boards on the ECU. I'm not saying it's likely but I had a similar problem with an aftermarket plug in board on my ECU, and it could happen to the Subaru boards as well?

sounds very electrical to me. could be a bad earth or a broken wire from a sensor/injector.
check all visible earth points and just gently pull on the various sensor wires, if you have a break it may show up. love the icons http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
Cheers All,
This is the most curious thread I've ever started! Good laugh though! http://geocities.com/r337m0nk3y/net/rollsmile.gif blubs [This message has been edited by blubs (edited 02-05-2000).] |
Geezer,
I know I am a bit late in coming to this topic as I have been off work and had better things to do, now I am back in work this is the only place to be!!!!! Anyway, I put it to you that your fuel evaporation problem was down to your car being a fire ball on the a55. Served you right for having a Chrysler. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif |

Geezer,
Would now be a good time to mention Maxwell's Renault 5 'Turbo 2'? |
In fact, here is a picture of the bodykit before it was fitted.
Notice the incredible drag co-efficiency, resulting in a terribly slow car being reduced to semi wind assistance. http://www.absocold.com/absocold/abs...ges/ar176m.gif |
Oh, don't start me on that one! There isn't enough space on this server! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
I think after that episode, Mr Straker should change his name from Maxwell Straker to Max Power. Shame his car didn't have any then, isn't it? Geezer |
Hi Blubs,
Any chance you could remind us what model car you have and what, if any, modifications you have fitted? I don't suppose you have a phase one fitted? Moray |
