I have to recommend the above experience that I did on Saturday at Loughborough!!:p

The day involved driving 2 Mitsubishi EVO V around a tarmac track learning different braking points and how to line up the car. Plus driving VW Polos on a loose gravel stage and a Vauxhall Nova on a full gravel stage which was sooo much fun and I learnt loads!!! Plus I had a go in the karts which was a nice extra for the day.

The bit that really sticks in my mind though was when I had the passenger ride in the Ford Escort Cosworth by one of the instructors.. The way he could slide the car inch perfect through the cones when taking corners that he should have been going a lot slower for :eek: :eek: was amazing and I was in awe of the guy!! :D If only I could drive like that..... ;)

Have to thank my partner of course for buying me it as a birthday present!! :D:D:D

I did actually spend quite a bit of time behind the wheel to be fair (although it went super quick). There was 5 of us in my group and I didn't think the waiting around was that long considering.

If this was through Tangerine/Everyman then I did it a couple of years back, if the Evos were Vs prepared by Roger Clarke to Group N spec, one LHD & one RHD.
Had an OK day but was spoilt by the manager not being too impressed with a few decent drivers using his cars to the limit. One instructor used the limiter on me because "I was going too fast". When I asked him what he meant as I was clearly in full control he said, "The tyres were squealing". Well I'm sorry, but 300bhp through 4WD on a concrete surface is gonna make the odd squeal. We came to an arrangement that I could give it some on the far end of the circuit where the boss couldn't see, humph!
Another guy in the RWD Cossie on the gravel stage forced me to spin, twice, by putting the limiter/cutout on in the middle of a sideways drift. Again I was in full control and after a heated exchange I drove the car off the circuit 5 laps early. I was so annoyed that my helmet was bounced off his windscreen and I ended up making a formal complaint about dangerous interference. And it wasn't just me, the very next driver did the same.
Prior to this I had been to Howard Pattersons Rallydrive and, although not as polished and organised with nowhere near the variety of vehicles, I had a much better time and crucially learnt a whole lot more. We booked Howard (26yrs International Rally Driver) himself, midweek for just two drivers, so there was very little hanging around. He assesses each driver and allows them to go as far as he feels their talent permits, so 90mph 4 wheel drifts around tight bends with squealing tyres was allowed. With just one spin on the wettest day of the year on a greasy oily circuit.
Glad you enjoyed it, but I won't be going back to Tangerine.

i did this last year.got it free from a mate.
it was very enjoyable,i also learnt a thing or too.came second out of everyone doing it.not bad for the first time.
there was one instructor in the mitzy that i thought was a bit of an arse but i soon told him.
good to thrash someone elses motor for a change.

Redeye - I guess most of the day was OK, just let down by a couple of jobsworth killjoys. But I have always had a better time at Rallydrive. Can't remember how I did that day, prob was so miffed I didn't bother listening at the end. Claim to faim at Rallydrive is being only 0.9s slower than the instructor, straight 9s & 10s out of 10s on scorecard, 3 seconds faster than time reported by experienced and police trained driver featured in SIDC TrueGrip article, and faster than 11 out of 12 of the Red Arrows who were there the day before us. Went home with huge ego that night. Must do it again soon.
