Hi Guys and Girls,

This is my first posting so be gentle...

I interested in joining the Scooby fun and games by way of a MY03 WRX. I'm a little anxious about doing the deal as I've never pruchased a brand new motor before. I was just browsing through the latest "What Car" mag and their "target price" for the afore mention motor is £18,739. Is this a realistic price or are the dealers going to laugh me out of the showroom? Can dealers drop the price by £1256 and still make a profit?

Anyone managed to achieve savings like this on their WRX?

Welcome to the fun.

That price is very good but by no means unachievable. If you haggle strongly and get a couple of dealers into a bun fight.

Thanks Corradoboy. Anyone else got any experience in this matter?

Also worth have a search on this site for people's view of local dealers. Although price is vital 1st step - also believe you want decent service/support to follow.

I ended up avoiding local dealer despite having bought classic from them and svcd with them for 3 yrs. Dealer 45 mins away much more helpful with advice/test drives etc and hungrier with discount: wrx03 wagon £20,000 on the road incl mats. My local lot just didn't seem keen enough for my business - and quite a few stories on here about poor service that opened my eyes.

And then of course all the helpful insurance threads before you get too far with the deal!
