Hi guys and girls,

I just got a 96 STI from Japan 3 days ago. This is my first Scooby and was wondering if any of you had any tips/advice on how to keep it running nice 'n' smoothly etc etc.

Any tips/advice welcome! I'm new to this!

Err, octane booster? Maybe a turbo timer.

Welcome to the land of scooby ownership!

Try to use only Optimax and think about having a re-map for UK fuel

Look after the babe, don't get speeding tickets(like me),buy snooper, don't start finding sh!te on Ebay to t@rt the respectable sweetheart up,don't get the mod bug to fcuk the engine,DO put mileage on!How can you resist to drive it??!!And,do wave or flash your lights at other scoobs when you meet them on your way!

On a more maintenance side, do the services at the required intervals unless you hammering it every day, in which case have a think about changing the oil every 4-5K and then let the services happen every 7.5K.

Use Optimax or SuperUL - has your car been re-mapped for 95RON fuel? And last but not least, take it easy while the engine warms up when you first start it and make sure you leave it at idle after a hectic drive or take it easy over the last 5 or so miles to your destination if you've been driving normally, so the oil has chance to cool down (turbo timer will do it for you if you can't be ar$ed waiting around).
