This is in no way intended for you to "Illegaly copy" dvd's you do not own, but purely for making "legal back-ups" of purchased DVD's
Using this method described below I have manged to FULLY back up dual layered dvd's (including menus and all the extras) on to 1 dvd-r, purely to save my DVD collection from getting damaged Tools You Will Need:, DVD Decrypter DVD95Copy Nero Burning Software ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start DVDDecrypter to rip the DVD-Video to your HD (remove the DVD encryption). 1. Select Mode -> ISO -> Read 2. Select your DVD Drive. 3. Under Number of layers it should say 2, if its a DVD-9 disc. 4. Select Mode -> FILE Rip the main movie in file mode. 1. Select Edit->Select All 2. Select where to rip the files, you must have more free space than the size of the main movie, check at the bottom right . 3. Click on the DVD>HD-image to rip. 4. Close when the ripping has finished. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reconvert (transcode) with DVD95Copy. Launch DVD95Copy 1. Click on open DVD and open the folder you just have ripped the dvd to. 2. Select what audio tracks and subtitles track to keep. By getting rid of the other tracks you don't need, the movie doesn't need to be recompressed too much, which results in a better video quality of the movie. 3. Select a new destination. You need at least 4.38 GB free HD space. It will take about 30-200 minutes. 4. When the program has finished ,close it and create two folders, one named VIDEO_TS and one named AUDIO_TS (must all be in caps). 5. Drag all the files that DVD95COPY created into the VIDEO_TS folder. Leave the AUDIO_TS folder empty. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start Nero: Open Nero, select DVD/UDF as the type of disc to create, and drag those two folders over to the compilation. Make sure that under the UDF tab, you select UDF 1.02. Burn & Enjoy The reason for doing it this way is that some versions of Nero, when you make a DVD-Video disc, would burn in UDF 1.05, which can cause compatibility problems. The discs I've tried to burn as DVD-Video with Nero have not worked - the discs I've burned as UDF 1.02 discs work flawlessly everytime. |
DVDShrink and Nero.........
|
I use DVD copy express ... nice and easy but it only copies the film. DVD in one drive ,Blank in another press the button and come back 20 min later .... hey presto :)

DVD in one drive ,Blank in another press the button and come back 20 min later .... hey presto cheers big sinky |
only the main movie !!!!!!
I have to use DVD shrink/nero to get menu's and stuff but who really want's all that cr@p Craig |
if it was that easy we would all be doing it it is that easy check Here the software is a pay and download job. I've backed up all of my collection to DVD+R with the longest time being Gangs of Newyork at just over 35 mins start to finish Craig. |
Dvd shrink and Nero takes around 50 mins.....but who actually sits and watches it anyway.

If it's a DVD5:
DVD Decrypter to load movie to your harddrive (15mins) DVD2One - v1.1.1 allows full disk or movie only compression (20mins) Record Max Now (15mins at 4x) A useful tip when burning the file...select the VIDEO_TS file with the film in it AND create an empty AUDIO_TS file and burn that too. The disk is more likely to play in the more expensive players around. For a DVD9: DVD Decrypter again (25mins) Pinnacle Instant Copy to compress and write the disk. This takes about 2hours using a 2.8 P4 / 512 DDR PC but is definately worth it for the end result. I'd take the Pepsi challenge between DVD2One and Instant Copy for backing up a DVD9 and IC would win every time. Paul |
thanks guys.
Just finished doing my first one.Jesus, this took about 2 hours:D!!!! i must be doing something wrong?? I used Nero, and just did dvd copy.Took over 1 hour to read it from disk+create image on harddrive, then 1 hour 30 to write it to blank dvdr??!! What the hell?? I have a re-badged pioneer 105(teac) with hacked firmware and 4X burn ,i think? any pointers Dunc |
Anyone mentioned this?
|
Yup dvdxcopy v.3 has just been released or Super dvd Ripper v1.90
I use both and they work fine. |
I have a re-badged pioneer 105(teac) with hacked firmware and 4X burn ,i think? If you have the drive I think you do, it will probably have the v1.33 firmware. This allows an unlimited rip speed from DVD silvers, the drive will be region free and you can burn at 2speed on 2x media (the default is 1x on the 105). It supposedly reduces disk vibration as well... Another tip if you're backing up your original DVD collection, rip the disk down to 3.8-4.0GB and you should never have any read problems on your standalone players. If you burn to 4.4 there can sometimes be menu problems or the movie will skip/freeze near the end. Paul |
