I think I read on a post here that you can manually set the rev limiter on an STi8, will the Subaru dealer do this for me as I'm not sure I have the will power to keep under 4k for 1,000 miles!!!

Especially as I'm off up to Ten of the Best with a few Cossie buddies :-)

You can set the warning light and buzzer at a certain rpm but the rev limiter is fixed AFAIK..

I got the dealer to show me, it is a piece of cake once you know how but you might as well get the dealership to show you.

It is the only way you will keep below 4,000 RPM, you need the beeper on but it will drive your passengers mad when it beeps with every gear change. You will understand why once you have driven it.

Edited to add

Start nice and slow, build revs 3,000 RPM big kick in the pants rev limiter beeps change gear. Can't wait for 1st service

Subaru's have a running in oil in from new, if you rag it whilst this is in it could cause serious damage to your engine and seeing that subaru now strip and inspect all engine failures etc its not worth it.
Run her in nicely and have a better car at the end of it (or have to pay 5k to have a new engine in when subaru refuse your warranty claim if your engine dies).
