just had a nice quick adsl router installed at work and it's not working the way it should.
we've been using isdn and as far as I can work out it should be a simple case of just swapping the network cables over but... we've been assigned 8 IP addys and I've set the router as the gateway, but it won't connect. have tried all the tricks I know but to no avail...can't even ping it!! any ideas???? |
What router is it?
|
not sure...BT provided it and I thought had set it up.

Check on the bottom of the router, should have a model number. As it's BT, likely to be a 5861 If so, you should be able to connect to the router using 192.168.254.154, which (if it is the usual limited firmware 5861) will bring you to a connection page, showing username, password and a connect button. What are the settings? If connecting into a hub, you may need to use a X-over cable between the hub and router, unless one of them has an uplink port, in which case a straight-thru cable is required. |
The gateway should be your ISP’s router – not yours
Use one of your IP’s for your router If you cant ping it, that may be the problem, good luck |
figgy..
you is a mind of information.. it is a 5861... if you're on msn tonight I may have to have a word;) [Edited by BillyWhizz - 7/21/2003 5:29:50 PM] |
