Some numptie has formatted our SQL Server.

What are the odds of recovering it ?

Anyone know any handy "Unformat" utilities

I have a good program at home that I unformatted my drive after *accidentally* formatting it 4 times :o :D It managed to recover everything. Best to ensure nothing more gets written to the drive so you don't lose anything.

Drop me a mail and I'll sort you out a bit later if it helps ?

i used to have a dos program that would let you recover single files from a formatted hard disc, but you could only do one at a time and it had to fit on a floppy.

was a bit sh*te but OK if if you only needed a file or 2...

Thanks a million.

 The guy in pc support has been sounding progressively more worried as I point out the slightly devestating affect of their actions !

DJ, could you email me the proggy or details about it to the address in my profile? Handy utility to have :)

Thanks

Steve

Easy recover profesional would probably do the trick.

Which can be found here:

If not, time to send the disk off to Ontrack and wait for the wallet busting bill...

So what exactly does a full format do then if it doesnt' erase files and create a clean drive? Confused! I am thinking of it in video tape terms, and if you format a video tape there is no hope in hell of getting your prog back!

I can second DJ Dunk on that On track stuff, works a treat, even on a formatted drive:D

Ontrack are based in the same building as our company so I can confirm you will get a wallet busting bill. When one of our customers hard drives went t!ts up the final bill was over £2000....

I can get you a discount if it comes to that though!
