Can anyone tell me what i can do about excessive ( or what seems to be) amount of brake dust i seem to be getting on every journey. My scoob is a uk MY96 with prodrive pads, i dont think i am braking unduly heavy and my speedlines need a daily wash . Suggestions much appreciated. Thanks!

Stef - would l notice a difference if I changed standard subaru pads to the green stuff pads, with respect to braking ability? ( I've got a my95 wrx )

Or you could have your wheels painted Anthracite and it wouldn't show http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

If you don't intend going on track, try some EBC Green Stuff pads. They are very good stoppers, and give off hardly any dust. They're only about £60 too I use them on road, and highly recommend them. Stef. |
Try 'Turtle Wax Brake Dust Barrier/arrestor'
(£4.99 in Halfords) after washing you spray this on and it puts a clear waxy coat on the wheels. Safe on all wheels and whilst it doesn't cure the amount of brake dust it certainly makes cleaning a hell of a lot easier! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Cheers Iain. |

I use the T-Wax barrier and it saves the scrubbing. Must admit, the dust does not show up as much on my Prodrive Anthracites as it did on my previous car with standard 16" silvers. They were hard work.
The £99 power washers from B&Q really get the crud off the wheels. A worth while investment, particularly for the rural types, where they collect more than brake dust. Ken |
You get the same result as that Brake dust barrier stuff by applying a light coat of normal car wax to the wheels....apparantly brake dust just falls off the wheels when washed with a hose-pipe, but I aint tried it yet !

Do you like them, and have you any pickies? Thanks, Tony |
Tony if you fancy a set of P1 style multi spoke tarmac stage wheels in the graphite or silver or gold:which ive had a year then see Pete at Scooby sport for a nice set SO2's on em as well!
