Works for me by name....

Maybe your DNS settings are wrong/not working

jon44w 17 July 2003 08:11 AM

Cheers mate, this gets stranger by the minute as the name still doesnt work for me

ChristianR 17 July 2003 08:14 AM

works for me fine -lucky sod, my site is still down with them! Did you manage to ring them up?

Figment 17 July 2003 08:15 AM

Works for me both ways, although yesterday afternoon the domain name showed the apache test page which suggests that DNS records were being updated, or a DNS server was down somewhere close to your host.

Still doesnt work for me

Christian, try typing in your numerical IP and email about 50 times a day. My site means a lot to me and I hate it being down :(

What DNS servers are you using?

Try using BTs

194.72.6.51
194.72.6.52

Your site works for me.

Also, both ns.hostservers.co.uk and ns2.hostservers.co.uk resolve the domain correctly.

You may have a caching issue! Have you removed all temp files/cleared cache etc?

Went straight to your site, no probs, using the name title....

Name goes to an apache holding page for me !

midget1500 17 July 2003 11:37 AM

works fine for me :)

what would scooby do 17 July 2003 11:45 AM

Chap, daft question but you're not trying to access the site via DNS in the same building that the server is in ??

If so you need to have an internal DNS server giving its private IP address (not public) or have a host entry in you local hosts file..

:D

This is a long shot. Is your PC or network domain the same name as your domain name?

Avi 17 July 2003 05:18 PM

Works from home, doesn't work from work pc.

jon44w 17 July 2003 09:19 PM

Both work fine now people. It must have been a DNS issue. Thanks for all your help and advice.
