Hi All
Any sugestions greatfully recieved

We have Two networks at work Novell and Windows Active directory domain. The Dc for the Active directory uses E-directory synchronization to keep the Novell and NT stuff synchronized and needs to work on the DC with W2K and service pack1 this server is also the Terminal server license server .User's who run 9x have had problems recently of getting an error of unable to connect to the terminal server. Further investigation on the terminal server shows event id 1004 "the server is cannot issue a license" looking at the license server shows that for the past 5 months its only been issuing 90 day temporary licenses instead of full licenses. The full license pool is full and has issued no new for 5 months it will not release these licenses.
My question is :
Is there a way i can get the server to release the licences without the dreaded service pack 2 upgrade (E-directory sync wont work) or are we going to have to move the licences to a new licence server which is SP2 friendly.

All clients are now working (90 days at least) this done buy going to (on the client)the registry and deleting the MSLicensing key and reebooting.

Many Thanks

Pete

You cant move the license server unless you put another Domain Controller in

E-Directory 8.7.1 has now been released, have you checked that to see if it is compatible with SP2

Im pretty sure we run Edir on SP3 Servers, just stick all the Novell patches on :)

Check your WINS & DNS settings too, also you may want to try the regkey to specifiy the Terminal Server Licensing Server

Hmm havent seen this before Not..

could be.. Network Problems.. Q274805

ICA Client Problems when it cant get a licence and then reports it on the server.. Q329944

also see

Q32970

and it could be... These error messages could be caused by too restrictive of a Local Security Policy on the Windows 2000 Server that is configured as the Terminal Server Licensing Server. The local policy in question is Security Options | Additional restrictions for anonymous connections. There are 3 possible values which are set in the registry by configuring this policy:
0 - None. Rely on default permissions
1 - Do not allow enumeration of SAM accounts and shares
2 - No access without explicit anonymous permissions

Thanks Guys

Sonic:
I'll get someone at work to do some searching of the novell sites for patches and stuff. Made sure all the clients point to the Licence server using DefaultLicenseServer reg key.

David:
Thanks for the links and stuff i will search out the registry and security stuff today.

Many Thanks
