Figment 16 July 2003 05:19 PM

ChristianR 16 July 2003 05:29 PM

Titan hosts are vey expensive are they not??

Average Data Transfer Cost per month
5GB / 16k £50.00
10GB / 32k £75.00
20GB / 64k £100.00
40GB / 128k £175.00
80GB / 256k £250.00

For a 40Gb Bandwidth on my other server it was £20 a month and they worked fine for almost a year until now :(

For reliability I'd recommend www.appliedi.net 12 months uninterrupted service with 24 hour support.

jon44w 16 July 2003 08:57 PM

Who hosts Scoobynet?

jon44w 16 July 2003 09:05 PM

Appliedi is about £80 a month for 20Gb of Bandwidth :( There seems to be a big gap in the market for a decent server at sensible prices here.

rik1471 16 July 2003 10:58 PM

I use hostonce.com for my personal webspace. Not as reliable, but alot cheaper.

You get what you pay for really.

ChristianR 16 July 2003 11:12 PM

Avi :D That site hosting is fine, it is the other site that is playing up @:( - hosted same place as jon44w's site

jon44w 16 July 2003 11:31 PM

I used www.net2.co.uk before and they let me down big time :( They just stopped answering emails and phone calls after the server crashed :(

jon44w 16 July 2003 11:32 PM

There seems to be no real standard to charge for hosting. I had 40Gb bandwidth + 1Gb space for £20 a month until recently they were fantastic hosts :(

ChristianR 16 July 2003 11:33 PM

have you managed to get hold of them at all? I don't have a contact number for them, and all emails I have sent, had no reply yet :(

jon44w 16 July 2003 11:34 PM

Whats happened my site anyway? What does all this SSL test page mean?

jon44w 16 July 2003 11:34 PM

I dont have a contact number either but Daniel has replied to my email saying the site is working on his computer. :( Never a good sign that

ChristianR 17 July 2003 08:15 AM

had no responce at all from them :(

jon44w 17 July 2003 08:24 AM

If your site isnt working Christian try typing in your numerical IP and see if that works. ( See other thread as I have that problem :( )

www.oneandone.co.uk cheap as chips and very reliable, lots of extras like online website builder and ecommerce sites too.

Company I work for primarily do server colocation (your server in our racks) £125 a month or £1250 per year, 20gb per month, good support, burstable to 2mb, extra b/w £50 per 5gb

Not in London, not the cheapest but good reliable and friendly :D

Not going to get in a pi55ing contest with anyone about costs, just quoting the numbers :)
