Just to prove that I wasn't going mad I checked on another 2 Windows 2000 servers before posting here. It would appear that Windows 2000 has NO file called boot.ini that I can edit to pull out rogue OS entries. There must be some file that it is reading from but it isn't boot.ini like it is on every other version of windows
Any ideas what the file is called? Cheers Marc |
Oh yes it does ;) :D
It's a hidden, read-only system file, so you'll either need to turn off the various settings in Explorer to see it or go to a CMD prompt (ie type c:\boot.ini) Folder Options are: Tools > Folder Options > View check - Show Hidden Files and Folders uncheck - Hide protected OS files Chris. |
My 2000 machine (and XP machines come to that) has a file called Boot.ini in the root of the C drive. Are you sure that you have the ability to see system files (Tools|Folder Options|View\Show Hidden files etc?

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply mate. I think I should stick to my speciality (Unix) rather than trying to fathom out Microsoft. Cheers Marc :) |
