Hi
I'm having a bit of a problem playing DTS and Dolby Digital DVD's on my ps2
I've got it connected to a Marantz 4200 A/V amp via the optical link and all I seem to get is a PCM signal in
So when the reciever is set to Auto dectect the source type it chooses stereo every time
I've tried going into the dvd audio menu's and selecting DTS from there but still the same
If I manually select DTS or Dolby on the Amp its telling me the source signal aint either and mutes the output
I read somewhere about updating the Dvd driver , anyone know anything about this ??
Could this have something to do with it ???

Hey Si
Yea I'm selecting DTS in the audio menu and its making no difference
The amp still see's the input signal as PCM stereo
Very Strange ... :/

Have you connected phono inputs as well as optical to the amp :)

No Si I haven't just the optical cable
this is getting stranger and stranger
I just stuck vice city in and selected DTS in the audio options
The amp switched to DTS in Auto mode like it should ..
Took VC out ...stuck in Gladiator ... selected DTS in options
same old story .... PCM stereo
Tries manually switching to DTS ... Amp tells me not a DTS encoded signal
ffs ...

Ok have also now discovered that its not switching to DD either
Basically EVERY dvd i play is being read as PCM stereo
Games are fine ..
Would I be right in thinking its driver related?

Ok problem solved ...
Just a matter of going into the setup menu of the ps2 and enabling DD & DTS
Knew it was something simple ;) :D

LOL i thought you'd done that, my laser disc player needed phono's connected as well as optical feck knows why though :)

Glad your sorted though :)
