Hi
I'm having a bit of a problem playing DTS and Dolby Digital DVD's on my ps2
I've got it connected to a Marantz 4200 A/V amp via the optical link and all I seem to get is a PCM signal in
So when the reciever is set to Auto dectect the source type it chooses stereo every time
I've tried going into the dvd audio menu's and selecting DTS from there but still the same
If I manually select DTS or Dolby on the Amp its telling me the source signal aint either and mutes the output
I read somewhere about updating the Dvd driver , anyone know anything about this ??
Could this have something to do with it ???

My sony amp switches between stereo and dts when playing ps2 games (ie metal gear solid 2) where the clips are dts and the game itself is PCM stereo. I can manually switch the amp to dolby digital but cannot force dts.

are you sure the content you are playing is dts ??.

I've a feeling there's something you need to configure in the PS2's menus to enable surround sound output. It's disabled by default because some external hi-fi DACs can't decode the signal. Since your amplifier obviously can, though, you just need to enable it.

Thanks guys

Yes the source material is def DTS and I've tried trawling tru the playstation menus looking for some sort of option i might have missed but cant seem to see anything
Its becoming a little bit annoying at this stage lol
I'm sure its something small and trivial I'm missing
Just got that feeling about it
