I have just had a larger 4-pot brake kit fitted and although they operate smoothly as I apply them hard they give off a loud squealing noise until the car stops it is so loud that my Impreza sounds like a steam whistle from a train .
The pads are Mintex supplied without backing pad is this the problem or will the noise reduce when bedded in?

It'll probably be the Mintex pads, they are notorious for squealing:rolleyes:

I had this with Mintex pads, until I fitted some anti squeal pads, also made by Mintex.

who's brake kit and what spec mintex pads???

noise can be caused by a number of things, could be the pads, maybe they are not bedded, mismatch between discs and calipers, frequency conflict with upright/strut......the list goes on!!
manufacturers spend millions to solve these problems.........
