I have something that produces Eastings & Northings (123456,123456) & I wish to convert into Latitude & Longitude to say 4 decimal places

Anyone have an app to do that or preferably a formula I can use in some code?

Thanks

Puff Mate,

Looks like you have something I want and I have something you want.

Been working on a Phone Location system that automatically (or upon defined actions) reports its position back to base via GPRS. Not using GPS but Cell Location. The location is determined from the information that it receives from its attached cell (foc).
So, you must have a database of all the cell sites and their locations?

I have the formula and the code that takes Eastings & Northings and converts it into Latitude & Longitude, then puts icons onto MapPoint 2003 ;) ;)

Contact me off line if you want to do a trade? :D

Cheers,

Rob

Well thats very kind of you to offer :D

I now have (thanks James) the formula to work it out

I have the other necessary tools to have to put dots on maps, Mappoint or other :D

I still have the other information that you might require - maybe I could be sitting here taking a reading from my phone & seeing the location of the nearest transmitter on Streetmap (currently ;) ) - prehaps I'm parsing cell info back to my servers - maybe..

I know that I can see the location of my phone & that of several other people's on MapPoint over VPN to my office 50 miles away ;) Signal strength is poo - I am in the boonies & the nearest transmitter is 6k away..

I certainly have what you want, depends if you have something I want ;)

Guess we'd better have a chat...
