Can someone tell me the power and weight of a TVR Tuscan
I had great difficulty keeping up with one in a straight line to 140 the other day........I suspect that the power to weight is far superior - my car is only 400bhp - will see if its the same story when I have 500bhp! |
360bhp, 4.2s 0-60mph 175mph+ = The Standard Tuscan :)
400bhp, 3.9s 0-60mph 195mph+ = Tuscan S :D [Edited by Brun - 7/13/2003 1:59:54 PM] |
Must be the weight than - the 0-60 time is poor
I timed mine 2 years ago at 3.7 secs 0-60 Now I have just over 400 bhp... If they weigh about 950kgs then I'll need about 500bhp just to keep up!! - think the subs are coming out! |
I must say that the fastest car I'ver ever been in was a TVR with a Supercharger conversion - the 5litre Cerbera - we got that to 200mph (in France)
|
Fang, what do u drive?
I've had two memorable run ins with TVRs - 1 Griffith and 1 Cerbera. With the Griffith it was on long straights, cut by roundabouts (near heathrow terminal 4 ;)). Straightline I had no chance but on the approach to roundabouts he was really slowing down and taking it cautiously so I was able to make some ground. With the Cerbera, on the A406 striaght line duel. It wasn't fair because someone had inserted a brick under the gas pedal :( |
The new tuscan are only just over a ton in weight and dont have 4wd transmission losses that a scoob does. They are also a lot more areo dynamic than a scoob
|
sti 5 by the looks of his email?
|
IF you watch the tvr tuscan race series,
you will know the only thing that keeps up with a tuscan is another tuscan!!! these are mental cars with mega tail happy handling a comparison would be a dodge viper on steroids Mart |
always fancied a Dogde Viper lovely cars
|
My brother has just bought himself a tuscan (see http://www.ourtuscan.com). There is no way I can keep up with in a straight line (in my Sti7). When the roads are a bit damp it's a different ball game though :).
I've yet to find a better car than the Tuscan for posing in though :D Iain |
Its easy to beat a Tuscan, any TVR for that matter, just wait until they break down. You might need a longish stretch, probably a couple of miles should do it ;)
|
Surely you've always gotta back engine displacement and cylinder count, over 2.0 turbo charged horses, in a top end clash!?

Fangoria - what planet do you live on???
|
Planet Yorkshire.
What's your problem? paul |
yeah - planet whats wrong with that Planet.only a bit of fun anyway!!! was the post.............
I have a slightly modded sti5......and yes to I know that I aint gonna beat a supped up TVR in a straight line - the guy was seriously slowing down in the bends and then let ir rip on the long straights - there was only one in his car, I had a passenger who was shi**ing himself and the stereo gear in my car weighs me down Once the the bigger turbo goes on it will be a different matter - but we'll see 500 bhp over say 1.35 Tonnes versus 360bhp over 1 tonne - should be a close contest even with the 4 wheel drive losses! Brun - are you the guy that had to stop on the Northern run about 6 months ago cos of the rain - I remember one TVR guy having to stop at the side of the road!......... |
I was on the track with a TVR tuscan S at Heyford. He always caught up a little on the striaghts but I always made it in the corners. :):D
|
I had a little run with an R reg TVR Griffith at the weekend and we had a straight line run down the A217 in Surrey. There was not much in it, but I was about half a car length in front of him to the next set of lights (about half a mile). Upon reaching the lights, he took his shades off and asked me what I had done to the car to stay ahead of him. Nothing I replied, just standard 280 horses (MY99 WRX) but said his exhaust sounded better than mine.
He seemed genuinly embarrassed!! Said he had no idea Scoobies were that quick! I told him to drive carefully before we pulled away and I turned off. |
Hot weather won't be doing you any favours...
|
hmmmmm..
I give it to the Griff... no the Scooby ...no the Griff.... :) Seriously.. my Griff 5.0 destroys my Scooby (modified) in a straight line.. but the handling and cornering is to say the least entertaining ;) J |
Me? - Stop? :D I drive a tin can Scoob complete with roof :)
TVR is the stuff of dreams :D |
And the tin can Corners well :p
|
My brother has a 390bhp Tuscan Red Rose with Racelogic traction control fitted, it does 0-100 in 9 sec's and goes around bends very well.
We were about equal around Rockingham, I've got a STI RA with about 330bhp etc!! In a straight line the Tuscan is nearly untouchable!! Dom. |
I doubt there are ANY scoobies (modded or not) that would outpace a STANDARD Tuscan in a straight line. This thing leaves Lambo's behind ;)

Sorry - must have been some other 'p*ssy' :p Will see if I can keep up once I'm significantly up on the 400ish I currently have I was fairly impressed - still to 140 I would have expected to be have been right behind - not being gradually left behind............ So what is the weight of the Tuscan??? - 1000kg's? |
Tuscan Sp6 is 1020kgs....
0-60mph 4.2 sec 0-100mph 9.2 sec don't forget the new Tuscan 440R, car is similiar in proportions and looks almost like a normal Tuscan..... 440BHP 350 - 360 Lb/ft 200mph+ 0-60mph ? sec 0-100mph ? sec Weighing in at 1080kgs :) J [Edited by ScoobySnack - 7/14/2003 4:40:11 PM] |

|
my car is only 400bhp I have a slightly modded sti5......and yes to I know that I aint gonna beat a supped up TVR in a straight line The TVR was more than likely factory standard too. This post should be in muppets. |

Just a bit of jovial banter............ and yes to me 400bhp is lightly modded!....compared to other cars I've owned. The power will be higher - but like I said I'll probably need nearer 500bhp on a power to weight ratio! I just wanted to know a bit more about the Stats on the Tuscan - I'm pretty aware that they are light - just never been head to head against a Tuscan |
Fangoria- To you maybe but not really to an Impreza of that year was my point.
I've owned both a group A engined Cossie road car at over 500 hp and a Tuscan race car. Both cars went on the track together on test days. The Cossie was only lacking in the "going around the bends as quick" stakes as it was on standard suspension. On the straights it was more than holding it's own. The Tuscan then was about 360 bhp but weighed less that a mobile phone. |
